STAGE 2 TRACKING

STAGE 2: VILLA CARLOS PAZ > SAN JUAN

Connection 107km | Special Stage 518km | Total 625km

COURSE OVERVIEW

Any rest will be short-lived, because before reaching San Juan, the competitors will have a particularly busy schedule: quite simply the longest special stage in the rally, which is varied enough to unsettle even the most experienced of drivers. Hard terrain at the start of the race will be followed by dusty sections in the middle of the day and a sandy stretch to finish. This is the first real test, which can only be successfully overcome through constant vigilance.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

IMO they didnt test in glamis climbing dunes and making the car work extra hard pushing it to the limit we cannot be finding limits during the race those minis and toyotas got their cooling down. Testing IN GLAmis would be perfect because lack of air flow super soft sand and hill climbing plus the sand relects sun rays and heat from the ground making extra hot ambient like we saw today, no doubt we see a modified hood scoop during the rally

@Ivan, do you know what the conditions where at Parker this last summer when they tested for a couple of weeks?

now down to the bottom `....
tomorrow will be for sure another looong day for team speed crawling up and fight the clock back .
GO ROBBY !!!!

Been in meetings all day and don't feel ready to read the entire stream. Any word on what happened? Sometimes I wish RG would join a factory team with all his racing but then I probably wouldn't like him as much.

to sum it up `.... brake problem , 4h behind at 50th off 57th finishing .
cappy day i'm telling you

Thanks yano! Can't believe it break problems slowed him down that much knowing how he handles the throttle and gears. But then again if they are completely gone I guess it would be crazy risky.

Brake problems early and repeatedly. But no word yet that I've seen on what ended up requiring the tow the last few Km's

Heard that someone is looking for a job,. with brake system experience, lol.

Brake systems like these are fairly easy to completely replace in a reasonable time. One mechanic at each wheel can replace rotor and caliper completely in just a few minutes, one more to replace twin master cylinders in not much more time. Bleed them and you're done. Bigger problem would be damaged steel line, but even that is simple for these guys. But the need for a tow is another thing all together ???!!!???

I'm not the greatest at interpreting the timing, but it looks like darkness must have hit, with about 50 cars still out on the course. Cars from positions 85 on back are universally beginning to lose 2, 3 and even more hours between checkpoints, which may have to do with darkness. Some may even have stopped for the night ?

they should remove the marathon stages then

no no no they fight their way all the way .
