STAGE 2 TRACKING

STAGE 2: SAN LUIS > SAN RAFAEL

Connection 365km | Special Stage 433km | Total 798km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The fastest special stage of the rally, at least for its first part, will also be the one where drivers will have to face the first dunes. And it won’t just be a brief encounter with sand: in the last 100 kilometres, the exploration of the grey dunes of Nihuil will be even more intensive than during previous visits. The sand is more firm there, but the experience will provide a great deal of insight about each of the competitors’ technical skills. In short it will be a veritable test.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Top ten have left the starting line. RG will be up in a few minutes. Maybe only one update today before the finish. We will see.. car route slightly different than motos but WayPoints may be the same.

11:22 Cars: Still possible?
For Giniel de Villiers, starting in 27th position this morning 15’57 behind the leader, there is still hope It will be tough, however, for the “Americans”: in the Chevrolet buggies made by California-based Eric Vigouroux, Guerlain Chicherit, lying in 114th, suffered worse luck than his American team mate Robert Baldwin who starts today in 98th place. As for Robby Gordon, 2:08’06' behind in 133rd place, he will no doubt be determined to prove that his potential is still intact in spite of all his problems.

Well we all know Robby's potential is for sure intact, the question is wheather the potential of the equipment is.

American Dakar challenge winner Peter Hajas will be starting 139th in the Brenthal car #346. American bike riders Kevin Muggleton (120th), Mike Johnson (140th), and Peter Hardy (155th) will still be contending against the challenging Dakar
