STAGE 4 TRACKING

STAGE 4: CHILECITO > COPIAPO

Connection 594km | Special Stage 315km | Total 909km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The competitors will have to prove they are worthy of entering Chile! A very early start and a climb to a height of 4,800 metres will precede the border crossing at Paso San Francisco. The really challenging section will begin with a gradual warm-up on the mining tracks, before drivers are faced with the reality of the Atacama Desert. The route here is open and sandy. Over the course of the last 40 kilometres, the giant dunes and basins of Copiapo will have to be tackled and for many this will be at night. Overcoming them will require finesse and instinct.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

This year is truly more brutal than I can remember in the last 5 years.
Good Luck in Stage 5

Robby can't win Dakar alone, all the industry in USA must help, And I don't mean help Robby directly but help to put USA in a better spot, for example, SCORE and BITD opening a category for the dakar cars, with the 2 Gordinis, the Durango from Mat Campbell, the Brenthal car, and others can be a good category, the touaregs finish in front of all the class 1 in the 500 they race, in Vegas to Reno Robby was inside the top 10 until problems, Dakar cars are really fast cars, Also I think is hard sell to the sponsors a race that only is famous in Other contries and you only Have 2 weeks of racing per year.. But If you can race all the SCORE and BITD races is more atractive. MINI and TOYOTA race all the year for them is 2 more weeks of the year.

And with more races Other teams will born, Jeffries and Jimco Have experiencia in rally cars.

Totally agree Juan. the Gordinis need race miles on them, even if RG isn't driving!

I really want Robby to take the restrictor off and run Baja, it's obviously not the smart decision, but it's a pride thing. The Gordini is fucking FAST. It was in the top 10 in Vegas to Reno before it broke with a restrictive on it. Don't evern worry about a TT engine in it, drop an SST 650 hp engine. That'll do and that'll really stress some of the parts so may not be the best idea.

yes great idea bullet proof the chasiss it was done with the hummer a few times but racing in a TT is so much more awesome at the 1k

They had section on winning vehicles in the DAKAR Rally, they emphasised these vehicles were part of a TEAM

Dakar update from The Biv in Copiapo Chile,
January 7th 2015,
Today's stage was a mighty one leaving early for a 600k journey over the Andes, light headed and out of breath just sitting in the Navi seat....left the Bivouac at 651am and started the 315k special at 3:06pm. The stage started on Rocky mining roads and washes at high elevations. Then dropped down and ran some suuuppper smooth but extremely slick roads connected by Rocky hill climbs in and out of washes. The last 80k ran pretty solidly in BIG dunes til the finish in Copiapo.
We took off with vengeance to set the pace of the day for the first 85k. We encountered a couple major players with major issues only to continue a bit more and find our own.
The flex plate on the Gordini cracked causing a vibration til finally we stopped to investigate. We made trail side cut and hack-took awhile but was necessary to not cause further damage. After a lengthy "repair" we were underway making the best of it. Super fun roads, gnarly rocks and dunes for miles that could swallow a small village.
RG did an outstanding job crossing the battle zone of stuck vehicles and some upside down.
Navigation was fun, chasing waypoints across the sea of sand.
We lost several minutes/hour plus today with our problems,
But as the Dakar continues so will the battle of those like us, with multiple trials.
Tomorrow is a new day and the Speed Energy crew is doing an outstanding job re prepping our mess day after day, all night long.
Thanks Boys!!

Thanks TOG

Thanks Boys indeed.
With that I'll retire & dream of that big downhill sweep to the sea.
Thanks for all you do TOG & Crew.

thx TOG !
the crew is awsome .
GO ROBBY

JC is the man. Way to go fixing and getting it going again.
Funny how some people here are Dakar experts. ..and RDC also. I would love to see another, fresh American built team attempt and what their outcome would be. ......of yeah...BJ and his car couldn't hang...what about Nassar in the Jefferies buggy. Oh yeah....money didn't buy them out. And even the Pugs....issues.

Gas on Speed crew. Here's to you all busting ass.
Probably would if more people in North America knew about the Race
