Too bad JB did not stick around long enough for Robby to be running VW's. Jayski had the news today that NASCAR and VW are discussing their entry into the sport and you know how Robby likes to change manufacturers. As to motors, they have V8 diesel blocks but the heads have to loose the overhead cams but that means the blocks would need a cam gallery. Sounds like they will need to come up with a new block.
