The race was actually pretty entertaining.....except for the fact that Jimmie Johnson got a lucky break.. again. Also, Robby's car was horrible. He didn't sound happy over the radio either calling his car "a peice of s---" several times.
Darlington couldn't sell out two races before 2005 (and they only seat 63,000), which is why they lost a race. What makes you think they would sell out two now?
California is a let down because its after Daytona. Its like Led Zepplin opening and having some garage band following. Every season Nascar gains new fans people of all makes and all types, but one thing is comon for all new and old, and that is blood lust. We are an media driven taboo crazed group of curious nymphos in need of excitement . Daytona is hyped up and delivers, there is always crashes and carnage along with history and nostaligia the spectator feels the energy. It creates this big high that we all feel and seven days later we find our gladiators in a new arena and its a downer I mean a down force track with higher speeds on the straights and flat corners . And yes on TV the race looks flat. This is a totally different type of racing compared to the craps shoot of a plate race and a Plate race is a hard act to follow. While california could be its own saviour and by that I say make it better, increase the banking who cares if they need a plate to keep speed down, they didn't at Homestead. Build the banking and they will come! This is far from reality banking or not the truth is aside from clean fast side by side racing is Fontana is in BFE its not set up for A-list celebs and doesn't mesh with Hollywood thus missing out on the nostaligia it could create . In an age of instantanious stimuli ..an attention span is priceless.
