Sunday’s running of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Price Chopper 400 – the second race in The Chase – saw NASCAR’s leading Sprint Cup Series Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year driver, Kevin Conway make his Kansas Speedway debut in the Sprint Cup Series along with a shake-up in the Chase standings leaving a familiar face, Jimmie Johnson, atop the leader board heading into California.

After starting in the 41st position, Conway and the ExtenZe Racing team found themselves battling in and around the top-35 during the early portions of the race before a bad vibration began to surface that ultimately led to the engine retiring on lap 180 of the scheduled 267 lap race. This put Conway and the ExtenZe Racing team in the garage unable to finish the race resulting in 38th place finish. This finish, however, gave Conway his 26th overall Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Race award.

Next up on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule is a return visit to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California for the third race in The Chase – the Pepsi Max 400 on Sunday, October 10.

“Unfortunately, we had our day cut short due to the motor letting go on us. We had been fighting the handling and were working through it all and then I started to get a bad vibration. I brought the car down pit road a couple times thinking we had some loose lugs or a tire going down but that didn’t seem to be the case. It turned out to be the motor. I hate it for ExtenZe, Alteril, and my guys at Robby Gordon Motorsports because they work hard to give me great equipment and work hard at the track. We just have to regroup and head onto California. I am excited about Fontana because the race is in our sponsor’s back yard and is their Daytona 500.”
