I don't think they're not allowed to use the infield becuase of the "it'll ruin the field" reason, I think it's something else. The reason I say that is because it doesn't ruin the field, you don't put the dirt on the field you put it on plastic which is laid over-top of plywood which is laid over-top of more plastic (Grass, Plastic, Wood, Plastic, Dirt). I think it's some other reason, potentially cost related (cheaper to rent the stadium if the USC logo will be seen center field on TV? IDK).

They paint the logo, end zones, and grid lines every week for the football games, I doubt that any markings are on the grass during the event that have USC on them. If any grass is showing I would think NBC Sports and the SST logo + sponors would be painted on.

Anyone take in to account that grass aint cheap and that much ply wood and plastic is not free? easier to go where is not and not mess with the cost of possible ruining it and having to pay to replace. MTEG only went on it in the end zones once or twice if I recall correctly....

nice thing about the cardinal state of the art turf is that it slides out complete in one piece all 100 yards of it

Saw that.... that was pretty badass!

I know this is an LA Coliseum thread but I just looked at the LBGP schedule. SST gets a 20 minute practice on Sunday at 720 AM and a 20 minute "exhibition race" at 12PM. What a joke! I am sure the 12 PM exhibition will be some good exposure but I hope RG/SST don't invest too much in this endeavor.

I disagree. this is HUGE for the SST series. The number of eyeballs there watching parlays into ticket sales for the following week race at LA

Hope you are right

word of mouth travels fast

They will be touching a whole different fan base that might not have any idea about the Stadium Super Truck series little alone much knowledge about off road racing. This will get mentioned by lots of different groups. My family and I are going to be in the area and my son surprised me with tickets, can't wait.

The SST trucks are purpose-built off road racing trucks, anything more than the demonstration he has lined up wouldn't make any sense. I look at it as a great commercial to raise interest in the SST race.

Robby commented at Crandon that the trucks weren't built for that type of track with higher speeds for longer distance. Thats why they only used a short portion at Crandon. These things are built for short bursts of speed in the stadtums.
