Two teams looking to answer big questions find Petty Enterprises as the answer.
DEI has merged with Ganassi and had all the pieces coming together except one...a contract clause that would allow Martin Truex, Jr and sponsor Bass Pro Shops to bolt. The way to keep everything together was find a driver that made officials at Target happy. The answer was Bobby Labonte.
On the other side of the gararge, GEM was desperately seeking a fourth team. They went through negotiation with Robby Gordon & Bill Davis, but both turned out unsuccessful. The answer was Petty Enterprises.
By finding a way to release Bobby Labonte, the opportunity openned for both teams to find their answers. Bobby Labonte will be hired at DEI/Ganassi in the Target ride (Number to be decided), while GEM will acquire or merge the famous #43 team for driver Reed Sorenson. It's expected AJ Allmendinger will be hired to remain with the #10 team.
This will end Petty Enterprises, but it's expected Petty will still retain some ownership with the #43 team.
