Larry Carter New Crew Chief For Robby Gordon

Larry Carter is with the team now, and will assume the duties of Crew Chief. Iain Watt will still be with the team as an engineer.

Here's a good story about Larry from NASCAR.com from after his win with Jamie McMurray a few years ago. Prior to that he was at MWR, and he CC'd Rusty Wallace's last year at Penske.

Sounds like RG got some money behind him and is putting it into staff. To bad Doug R. didn't hang around but I think Larry being a 'Gear Head' will help the team move up in the finishing order.

I hate to say it but I was very sceptical when Iain was hired as the CC. I am sure that he is a terrific engineer and a very bright individual, but I questioned his knowledge and sense of strategy for the race. We all know that Robby makes those calls anyway on the fly. But now that Robby has a CC that has been around the block a few times, this could help to right the ship. I look foward to some improvement to the first 2 runs of the season. Gas on Rob!

Iain was interim, he'll be focusing more on the open-wheel team with Derrick Walker.

What open wheel team? I try to stay plugged into what is going on but realize that I miss a good deal of news. I am of the faction that believes that Robby belongs in open wheel cars. I would love to see him form a team with Derick Walker----Gordon/Walker Motorsports and have a 2 car team---Robby driving a Menards flagged car and Ryan Hunter-Reay driving the IZOD flagged car. Just my thoughts on the issue
