Major penalty coming for the #38? bleeder valves found on the tires

Read this over at jayski's.  It sounds like the #38 could have a 200 point $200,000 penalty coming and could put Robby back in the Top 35!!!

Illegal bleeder valves on the #38 at Pocono? Sources tell Sirius that NASCAR discovered clandestine [secrecy or concealed] air pressure bleeder valves on the tires of Travis Kvapil's #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Following the rain delay, NASCAR officials reportedly observed two soft tires on the rear of Kvapil's car and held him from rolling back onto the track for the start of the race. Closer examination of those tire and wheel assemblies allegedly revealed illegal bleeder valves, which purge excess air pressure from the tires as it accumulates under race conditions. If confirmed, the team would likely face a major NASCAR penalty, since tires are considered to be one of the sanctions "untouchable" items, along with engines and fuel.(Sirius Speedway)(6-8-2010)

I hope on the appeal, they stick with the 150 pt deal, and don't split it the difference and give 75 pts back, now it's important as ever for the 7 to have a strong run this week.
DNQ + X = Back in top 35

Now we know what X is.
this is unrelated to this thread, but i just noticed that RG is not in the Prelude tonite. Did i miss this announcement that he wasn't doing the Prelude?
Backed out about a week ago. Too many things going on and felt the need to get some testing in this week.
Unfortunately yes, but like Keith said RGM is giving alot of effort testing and getting the #7 Cup team back on track.

The Prelude is a great & fun race, but the big picture is his RGM operation!
WOOOHOOOO! Back in the top 35 :)
Do they realize that the team was gone by Friday afternoon?

This sh*t on Jayski about 'NASCAR could defer pending the appeal' is making me nervous. I can't remember NASCAR ever doing that in the past. You get your penalty, and then if it appeal is successful, you get your points back and your fine reduced/waived.

I hate all the black helicopter conspiracy theories, but I will be the first one to call BS if RGM is not in the top 35 at qualifying on Friday. That's not the way NASCAR has operated in the past.
Afraid that the one who will suffer for the points loss at FRM is David Gilliland,as up until last week had the job of babysitting Kevin Conway.Don't figure there is a chance that Nascar will give in on this infraction.Plus who is going to keep that speed demon in.Really don't know if this team can take this hit and continue running all three teams.Again it would be David that would most likely pay the price.Robby back in,and sure this is not the way you want to gain in the standings. On track performance is what all true racers wish to improve there standing.
I don't really care about the driver swapping that some people seem so upset with. They're bringing three moderately funded cars to the track each week that actually do try to run the race and not just start and park. I would think NASCAR has to like that all things considered. If they weren't bringing three cars like that, there would be short fields at some races.

With that, the penalty couldn't have come at a better time for RG, but he's not very secure in the top 35. Still better put together a good race at MIS.
Yes He is going to be fine in the top 35. Just reamber what next weekend is.
You mean that place where he averages a 23rd place finish? Worse than Michael Waltrips average finish at the same track by nearly seven full positions?

Where RGs last two finishes are both 36th? Three of his last four or 36th are worse? Four of his last six finishes are 34th or worse?

Where his best finish in the last six starts are a pair of 16th place finishes?

The place where he only has three top ten finishes in 12 career starts?

Yes, I am well aware of the race coming up at Sonoma.

I guess the only reply I can make is:

Just remember what race is next after Michigan. RG is hardly secure in the top 35. Still needs to put together a good race at Michigan. (that part seems pretty familiar, a lot like what I said before..) And it would be great to finally see another good run at Sonoma, there hasn't been a good finish there since 2003, which is a lifetime ago at this point.

You'd think after the disaster at the Baja 500, and last year at Sears Point people here would finally wise up and quit assuming great finishes at certain events before the races actually happen. It's great to be excited for a race where RG actually has a prayer for doing well, but its beyond foolish to assume anything weeks before the race.
I think most people know the stats. But Sear's is a place where Robby is definitly a major player. As a fan that's all I'm asking for.
