NASCAR has suspended a Sprint Cup driver under terms of its substance abuse policy - immediately and indefinitely - in advance of Saturday nightís race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, ThatsRacin.com and The Charlotte Observer have learned.

Sources said the driver, who has not been identified by officials, was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 7-5 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) of the 2009 NASCAR rule book. The determination was based on findings at last weekendís race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.

NASCAR on Saturday declined to discuss the matter, saying that questions would be dealt with in a news conference at the South Carolina track on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Such a suspension would be the first under NASCARís drug policies for a driver at the top level, the Spring Cup Series.

Good point.
Maybe even have two tests by different labs! Trust no one.....
did anyone hear how some radio hosts went out and took the same drugs JM took, (Dont know all the names, but the legal stuff, nothing illegal), and then had a drug test...and the result was the same as JM when it was all said and done.
Yes,but did they inhale fumes after wrecking a car?

Ive been on the fence about this. Ill lean toward Nascar then to JM. Going against my first impressions, I am gonna side with JM. He could have said any OTC drug, but he said Claritin, one of the few OTC's thats behind the counter that makes you sign a disclaimer to buy. Also the only histamine blocker sponsored by Nascar.

Lets not stop with have you seen the ads during races, what happened to the "Claritin Clear To Drive" restarts?

In theory unless alot of people are willing to risk jobs at those labs, Nascar could be in deep here. This whole doctor who isnt a doctor reeks of Nascar style. If Nascar test comes back positive and JM's independents come back negative....what a mess.

Then again, what do we expect. Nascar wanted RG to got back to 13th place at Montreal, despite all the evidence in the world....they stuck by a bad call until the dire end. Then parked RG for having a set and calling them out, and schooling Harvick in a burnout competition.
NASCAR is going to have to go real deep in there pockets when this is over. NASCAR is doing a good thing by drug testing but the way they are going about it is so poorly managed. There "grey area" jumped up and bit them right in the ass.
Just when you wanna side with Mayfield....he pulls more garbage out to stink up the place.

At least now the SmallSponsor.com cat is out of the bag, Robert Craddock is a friend of JM, and defended him as such. JM had ties to Small Sponsor the whole time, it wasn't as much a sponsorship, but a plan which ultimately asks your average fan to "sign up" 35 company's to invest into MM.

Craddocks has connections to Robert Auken Jr who owns Aggresive Financial Soultions. With Lifelock big into Nascar, Im sure Auken was trying to get in too. They say that they knew of a "Fortune 500 company" who wanted to sponsor the Michigan Nascar.....the one Lifelock did?

I guess they think people cant put 2+2 together anymore. What the point of Craddock coming out and defending JM like that, at this time when JM was winning back the public?
@ Hummer TIme.....dont be surprised if Nascar didnt give lousy directions. When my GF was suing the state (due to a driver running a stop sign and messing up her back in a car accident). The state's attorney gave us directions to their doctor's office for a visit to their IME (it was on a signed, certified letter from her) and when we got there the receptionist said he (the doctor) doesn't keep hours there on Thursday (only Monday). On Thursday he was in his other office 30 miles away. We called our lawyer immediately to document this and got all the receptionists names and they stated the same thing to our lawyer.

First thing Friday morning at 8am our lawyer got a call from the state's attorney saying she was moving to dismiss the case due to our missing the scheduled IME appointment....(it was a nice try but we tore her a new a-hole on that one).

NEVER underestimate how f@#$ing scummy lawyers can be.... NEVER
WOW! MAYFIELD FAILS DRUG TEST AGAIN!

NASCAR: Mayfield again tests positive for meth: NASCAR says Jeremy Mayfield has again tested positive for methamphetamine and wants the federal judge who lifted the driver's drug suspension to reinstate the ban. The positive result from a July 6 random test was included in a U.S. District Court filing Wednesday. The filing includes an affidavit from Mayfield's stepmother, who claims she personally witnessed the driver using methamphetamine at least 30 times over seven years. NASCAR says in its filings that the "A" sample had levels of methamphetamine consistent with habitual users who consume high doses. The filing also claims Mayfield and his attorneys have failed to select a qualified laboratory to test the backup "B" sample.(Associated Press)
AND The general manager of Jeremy Mayfield's race team says he has left the organization because he doesn't believe Mayfield Motorsports will return to the race track. Bobby Wooten says he was the last remaining employee. The team was started this season, and Mayfield said in court documents he had to lay off 10 employees since NASCAR suspended him in May for failing a random drug test. A federal judge has lifted that suspension, but Mayfield did not bring the #41 Toyota to the track in the two races since he was reinstated. Wooten says he does not believe Mayfield has any interest in resurrecting the team.(Associated Press
What a dumb ass, the only worth buying may be the hauler.
"Hey Kevin Harvick, welcom to SHR. This is your new hauler, it came complete with all the sugar you'll ever need."
That stepmother affidavit is intersting. Honest person coming forward for the right reasons, or evil fairy-tale type come forward to ruin him?
It will be interesting to see what the other lab's test results show. I dont think NASCAR would tamper with the evidence, but what happens if the "B" sample come up negative or if the other two independent labs samples come back negative?

Also is the stepmother still married to Mayfields father?
