I visit Speedtv.com a couple times a day to get racing news, and I haven't seen one single mention of Robby Gordon's Dakar effort on the site, and I can't help but wonder why. There's a story up about the Spanish leader in the VW crashing, but never a single mention of Robby/Team USA in an American vehicle, running in third to the mega-dollar factory teams. I'd think this would be a positive story in a rather negative time for Americans, yet Speed ignores Robby's effort.

On the bright side he is getting a ton of coverage in the rest of the world. Maybe that is the reason that no one here wants to cover him and the race. It took Lance, how many victories until the Tour de France got some real coverage?
Dammit Robby Gordon is an American hero and the country should know it! Those pathetic robots in the Big Media are always looking for a feelgood story. But he's in a Hummer crushing little Argentian bunnies.
If Speed gives up F1, I will have no use for this channel. They have given up on all the cool stuff like: WRC, Targas or Aussi Super V8. I cant wait for motorstv to come into the us. For me Speed channel has become like MTV. A music channel without any music.
well put
you gotta give these conspiracy theories a rest. bottomline is 99.9 % of America could give a rats ass about Dakar.
I asked a co-worker who is a big nascar fan if they watched any of Dakar on Versus. He said Why do I need to watch The Car ? So if a manager of a press outlet dedicates "x" amount of time to Dakar and they get bomblike ratings, then they risk their job. It will only be embraced once the bandwagon moves into full gear.
I don't see any real coverage of the ChiliBowl......plenty of NASCAR regulars there this week.
chili bowl will air on speed feb 14th, 2hr show saturday night
So a two hour highlight show with the final a month later?

I'm glad they're on top of things!
Thank you. Let it go people, and take enjoyment from the coverage that is available to you.
huh? you're on a forum where this kind of thing is discussed freely.
I loved the original Speed!! Since Fox took over it has gone down hill. I miss the Aussie V8's, German & European touring cars. Even the off shore boat racing was great. Guess these Unique whips & tow truck $h!t pay the bills better. Way too much NASCAR, sorry, can be good racing but there is a limit. Nice to see the runoffs and some of the other series that they follow. There are some good regular shows. But they are repeated the $h!t way too much. Where is Goodwood?
Good Lord Max, words straight from my mouth!!!! The old Speed was awesome. I feel sorry for Nena on this but it is good that she might carry some of this stuff back. Everybody here has touched on some very good points. They seem to be all about ratings now and in a way I can't blame them but the SCCA runoffs in the middle of the night, super late model coverage in a summary show for 1/2 hour, a summary show for German Touring Cars, and on and on. I can't imagine anyone like Unique Whips and that kind of crap over real racing. I love super late models probably better than anything else but German Touring Cars, the Aussie series, and the European LeMans series kick butt.
I am thankful that they keep the Daytona Prototype racing on but I am sure that is because it is France related and I don't mean the country.
Nena, I have looked for an e-mail address for SpeedTV to complain but can't seem to find one. And the cats that love Dave Despain and Robin Miller are right on. That is a great show and you can find something out about a lot of series that never get any coverage and Robin Miller's and Daves for that matter sarcasm brings a smile on my face every time they are on. PLEASE KEEP THAT SHOW SPEED!!
