I'm sure many noticed Robby's comment about Watkins Glen being fully funded, but the money might fall off by Michigan. Speedfactory.TV / Menards being listed is not any indication of whether Robby will race or PJ will S&P...I really hope Robby races this weekend, but times are tough and you gotta do whatcha gotta do!

Robby always used to say he races better when he is broke, hopefully it does not come down to this.
TOG, I have been looking for confirmation to see if you have to attempt all races to be top 35 protected. I think you do but I cannot find it.

Sprint Cup
In Sprint Cup races, the top 35 cars in the standings qualify automatically, regardless of qualifying time. The "top 35" cutoff is based on car owner points, not driver points. Furthermore, for the first five races of the season, the "top 35" is considered to be the final top 35 from the previous season. After 5 races, the "top 35" is the current top 35 at the conclusion of the previous race. The purpose of this rule is to reward teams which run the whole schedule. This is generally believed to improve the ability of teams to retain sponsorship by offering the sponsors assurance that their cars will indeed be in the race.

While the starting order is still based on qualifying times, teams above the top 35 cutoff are guaranteed to be "in the show". The top 35 teams in owner’s points (as opposed to driver's points) are guaranteed to start in the top 42 positions. The 43rd starting position is reserved for the Champion's Provisional. If there is no former champion using this provisional, the eighth fastest car not in the top 35 will start 43rd.[17]

NASCAR has revised its rules on provisionals many times over the years. There was actually no limit on provisionals during 2005–2006, and some drivers were able to take advantage of this rule to ensure qualification of an otherwise uncompetitive team. As of 2008, an eligible driver may use the champion's provisional a maximum of 6 times per season. However, if qualifying is cancelled, the provisional may be used without being charged against the maximum.[5]

The need for sponsorship makes the top 35 cutoff critical for teams outside the top 35, and they are sometimes known as "Go or Go Home" cars. In previous years, the random qualifying draw included all possible cars, but starting in 2008, the cars were separated into two draws, with the top 35 cars going first in the session and all cars outside the top 35 going second, which has become known as "The Boris Said Rule", named for an incident where Boris Said was on the provisional pole for the 2007 Pepsi 400 during qualifying until a downpour canceled the remainder of the qualifying session, and because his team placed outside of the top 35, and the field was set by the rulebook, Said went home. This change of rules was done to ensure that track conditions would be as consistent as possible for qualifiers outside the top 35.[14]

Think RGM will just decide when they get to Michigan if its a S&P? Like decide if they have a Pheonix car or a Chicagoland car (Joilet - Your welcome Mike) during the opening miles then see if they are running the mileage or parking it?
I know its a couple weeks away, but its my one race for the year. Does anyone know if Robby is racing at Bristol on the 21st?
i hope so! Im going!. Bristol would cost less for the team as its only 2 hours away from the shop. The team would not need hotels and travel cost would be much less. Fingesr crossed. Dont see why RG would stay home that weekend with it being so close by. Even if they do start and park he might show up as car owner.
Hotels, Schmotels, If i was a crew member for RGM and i knew that there were struggles with funding i would bite the bullet, save on some hotel costs and rough it..there is plenty of infield that you can pitch a tent and camp out the whole weekend man vs wild style, who needs the luxery of a hotel, im sure that if the whole crew shacked up in tents the whole race weekend that it would save lots of money, and it would help team building skills
They might need to pitch tents on top of the haulers to be in the infield.
If you think the crew is having a difficult time with pit stops now, just think how they will be if the crew doesn't get a decent night's rest... Working a Cup weekend is a lot of work for the crews and to make them rough it at night is counterproductive IMHO.
better take a generator and an air conditioner for that tent.......that is a "hot" like no other "hot"......

Bristol is the best atmosphere for Racing......but you need AC.....
