I just saw this come across Twitter : "Upcoming driver sub for Robby Gordon's Cup car. It's a familiar face. Robby will run in Montreal Busch Series race." Any truth to it? TOG...any insight???

The Nationwide COT will run these tracks & dates in 2010:
Daytona - July 2
Michigan - August 14
Richmond - September 10
Charlotte - October 15
I wonder if he could get sponsorship and crew for just such an adventure?
it can be done with the present personel
I agree - Ranger would be a great asset to RGM.
Andrew Ranger? Would be great to be in RGM cars for any road courses. Make it worth it for him and RGM and sign him for all three Nationwide road courses...
Oh, stop with the Ranger thing. Please.
Well, at some point RGM needs to decide if it a business for the future or a hobby for Robby. He needs to at least be thinking about having someone consistent on hand not only for the future, but to test, practice, qualify, and drive when Robby is otherwise engaged. He doesn't have to run two cars at one time now - but having to scrounge for people to qualify the car and going without testing for the whole crucial pre-season due to Dakar is not a good thing. And Robby has no time to do the Monster truck, rally cars, or even Indy not to mention his offroad program and he wants to do them all. As awesome as Robby is, this is too much for one person and I don't think you can be successful in all of these endeavors at one time. Having a good driver in the RGM stable even on a part-time basis would be beneficial to the program overall and allow Robby to take a breath or two to concentrate on his other endeavors. If Robby wants to do other races or heaven forbid gets sick - there is no one consistent person to drive the 7 car that could stand a chance of doing well for the team. Some of us here think Ranger could be that person, but I am sure that there are a number of other suitable drivers besides him.
Well exactly zero of those other activities you've mentioned have panned-out, unfortunately. So I kinda fail to see where this dearth of time has come from, seeing as last year Robby had more or less the same schedule as he's on a path to have this season.
Ranger could go many places if he has $$ behind him.Nature of the beast.
I'll be honest with you, if Andrew Ranger was a "guaranteed win" at Road America I would put him in a friggin car. I know some people at Pratt and Miller, and they have a Nationwide roadcourse car just sitting around collecting dust. This will be the last year it could be run, and Im sure since KHI already paid for it (long story) they would be more than willing to make a deal. A crew could be put together from the remaining jobless Nascar folks in the NC region, and off we would go.

Do I have the funds or patience to do this? No. My point though is there is equipment and manpower out there that can be had for cheap. A sponsor is very helpful, but if Ranger was a "guaranteed win" you have to be fooling yourself that no one would take a chance on him.

Personally, if I were Andrew Ranger I wouldnt drive for RGM right now. You only get so many shots to impress the Nascar community, and trying to do that in RGM equipment right now might not be the best scenario. I am going to guess Ranger has had offers from lesser teams, but he has made a wise career move not to be driving second rate equipment. (Not saying RGMs Nationwide stuff is that bad, honestly it might be better than the Cup stuff since its the older style car)
