Just wanted to share my RGM experience from the race this past weekend:
On Monday, September 28th, 2009 I found out via email that I won the "Hard Rockin for Robby" video contest. I recieved 4 hot passes, 4 grandstand passes, $250 gift certificate for the RGM merch trailer, VIP team member access, and a meet and greet with Robby Gordon,
We arrived at the track at about 8:30 AM Sunday and it finally started to hit me that I was actually there and going to have an awesome time. I probably had to walk a mile or more just to get to the right ticket office to pick up my credentials. We then walked thru the tunnel in turn 4 and met with Kevin from RGM near the entrance to the garage area and, I also met the 2nd place winner, Caleb and his wife. Kevin brought us through the garage area and to the RGM hauler. We had a little time to kill before Robby stopped by so we got to walk around the garage area and I got to take some good pictures and video with/of the car and some of the other teams that were close by. I did find it funny that Michael Waltrip's hauler was right next to Robby's. Anyway...Robby came over and met with all of us, and he was awesome, the nicest guy, he seemed to care that we were actually there and it wasn't just a quick "hi and bye". He was funny as hell too. There was nothing "fake" about him, he was just a great person overall. Sorry it's hard to explain unless you meet him. As we were wrapping up with pictures and autographs with Robby, he told Randy (sorry if I screw up the names) to give us a hauler tour. So we stepped on inside and he ran us through many different aspects of the hauler, which was really awesome! Robby was in the front of the hauler in the little conference room having his pre-race meeting with Kirk...Randy let all of us take a peek in there, and Robby even paused and told us what they were discussing. After the hauler tour, we had some time to kill and they let us hang around the hauler with everyone who was around there until the race started. I was amazed to see that pretty much everyone on that team was always working, always doing something, Robby also seemed very involved in everything that was going on. It was truly amazing to watch those guys run around and do their thing. Robby's dad Bob was also hanging around the hauler, so I grabbed a picture with him too, he was also a great guy!
I do have to say, everyone on that team was so friendly and hospitable, they let us hang out at the hauler, let us help ourselves to any of the drinks and things that were around. (we probably drank more monster than we should have, but you gotta support the sponsors right? It's good stuff) Race time rolled around and it was off to our seats we went, which were between turn 4 and the entrance to pit road. It was my first race and what a great experience it was! I can't explain with words how awesome it was! I am really greatful to Robby and the whole RGM team for the great weekend. Everyone and everything was fantastic, everyone there treated us like family! I have even more respect for this team than I did before the trip. This experience will never be forgotten!
Just felt like sharing my experience with all of you. I'll post some pics and videos when I get the chance.
