Now its time for Robby to do as the other 42 teams have done this morning and call NAPA asking for a five year $10 mill. a year sponsorship. As RG stated on the radio, he would consider coming back to Nascar with the right sponsorship......Of course I am kidding, but it will be great to see how Ol' DW and that fool Mikey spin this.... gas on

And with Nationwide stepping out of the title sponsorship for that series after '14 and claiming they are all in for Cup teams, I see Dave's 4 or 5 number being a reality for '15. The economic situation we now face is certainly a factor, however a flawed product won't sell in a great economy. Catering to the moneyed interests can only get any entity so far before it all collapses for lack of foundational support. [Larger lesson in other issues there, but I will leave it to Michael Martinez to explain for those who may question my wisdom]

#39 has Quicken Loans for like 20 some races and then Outback Steakhouse, WIX Filters and that other company with the flame design on the car for a few races each so I'd say Haas Automation is only on the car as a primary for 10-12 races.

I'm just sitting here...just sittin'.......Never cared for the Waltrips just never did.......natrual selection ..gravitating...call it what you want.....I now giggle just a little sittin there giggle

It would be great if NAPA moved over to Indy car. Supposedly, IZOD is leaving the series at the end of 2013 season.

With viewers dropping year over year and the races having empty seats, it looks like we are seeing NASCAR's decline.

I would love to see NAPA move to SST. They're spending $16,000,000.00 funding 1 team, just imagine the bang for the buck funding SST. RGs comment in the interview was something to the effect of "Off road is a market that's got a large amount of growth potential". Would NAPA like to lead the growth or follow?! With 6,000 stores, that's a lot of clout!

Just my opionion...but I see some strong possibilities...

Furniture Row will reach out to Martin Truex Jr or vice versa... could be a good combination. Chase capable driver and Chase capable team.
(Waltrip stated this morning they hope Truex gives them time to attempt to secure sponsorship, but they would not stand in the way if he had another offer...which means in english "Truex has told us he has another offer, we hope he gives us time to keep him")

As for NAPA... let the conspirecy theories begin... look for NAPA to replace Nationwide as the series title sponsor. NASCAR bags another mega sponsor away from the teams.

of course none of this is official...but I think you can hear the train coming...

I have to say, I doubt NASCAR had any idea of the fallout that would take place at MWR when they issued the penalties. I'm sure they saw the social media frenzy of Jeff Gordon and Ryan Newman fans calling foul on MWR and Penske and gave a knee jerk response. But when you look at what happened to MWR, did the punishment fit the crime? I mean, drivers and teammates help each other every race! As for needing a caution, Kurt deliberately spun Robby to get one in the past, and we know about Robby's roll bar padding episode. The problem is NASCAR doesn't punish equally. Back to MWR, look at what they REALLY got..

This could be a $50+ million dollar penalty.

$300,000 fine
-50 points per team
Lost millions in bonus money and exposure with #56 team disallowed from The Chase
Lost $32 +millions with NAPA leaving with 2 years left under contract
Probably lost Martin Truex Jr and their 3rd team
Will have to lay off 100+ employees
Will have a negative effect on team and results will show
All this could be too much for MWR to overcome. In 2-3 years we will know was this a huge setback or the death penalty to MWR

The timing was perfect with Nationwide Insurance letting the world know they would be out of the title sponsorship and 2 days NAPA out as the 56 sponsor! It's a natural fit for NAPA! When Nationwide started as the title sponsor, it cost $8,000,000.00 in 2007, God only knows how much it costs today!

Only problem with NAPA replacing NationWide is no one watch's them. And everyone in the corp. world knows it.
Cup is the only series NASCAR has that has a draw (still declining at that)

The sad thing is, the truck series has the best races.

Yup. Best racing, smallest purses and the least NASCAR support.

I still think the Modifieds have the best racing, but then again I may be biased since I grew-up in Modified country and work on them (albeit not one that competes in NASCAR) haha.

Modified's could be,but outside of the NorthEast and a minor presents in the SE. Nobody's seen them. Late model racing same deal. Nobody's watching them live.
