how the EFF the 47 and 96 are locked in on Owners points....lol.

JTG/Daugherty is the owner of the 47, but somehow they can use the #00 points of MWR?

Moorad and company still owns the 96, but they get the 38 points??

I dont; care if JTG and Morrad buy MWR and Yates dinner for the year and gives them the pickle tickle...the point of the matter is what they did amounts to a SALE of owner points for FREE to a Team that did not earn them.

And yet EGR cannot sell off their 2 extra cars that had owner points, but then pull the same bullshit with Front Row Motorsports....

Is Stewart-Hass housed with Hendrick Motorsports? No. Is JTG housed with MWR? Yes. And again, noone is saying the MWR HAS any ownership percentage of MWR...I said there MAY be, but we don't know for sure.

And JoCo was just asking if it was like a common thread that ties them together in one question. And the other question was (to me) a scenario where someone owns one team and also, as a for instance, 1% intrest in another team.
Relax JB7... have an Allstate Girl. :P
its all 3 at once or nothing....neither of them is hot enough to sleep with individually...lol
LOL!!!
i have been wondering, is one of them the same girl that was in the old michael j fox movie "doc hollywood"? does anyone else remember that movie? i really think that one of the allstate girls was the one who played the ambulance driver that got naked and went skinny dipping in the lake? i know she was much younger then, but she was pretty hot! i know this is random, but just wondering if i am correct, or if i have lost my mind?
It's all kinda BS and I understand Nascar's pickle with this. While they'd probably prefer to keep it simple and allow only those who earned it to keep it, they also need to look out for the future of the sport and that means encouraging new teams to form. But it does really screw a lot of good teams that worked hard all season and ended up one or two spots out of the top 35.

Penske might be pissed, but they ran the same BS last year to get Sam Hornish started.

The simple solution is to ditch the rule all together and allow the fastest 43 to race every week. It would help raise the level of competition because the big teams would have so much to lose that they'd have to balance the risk and reward of going for the pole. And really they could still go balls out on their second laps, they'd just have to make sure they laid down a decent first.

To keep sponsors happy, maybe they could just shrink the automatic bids form 35 to previous years Chase contenders. It would make, making the Chase even that much more of a big deal.

Of course I say all of this knowing full well that RG isn't the greatest qualifier - so maybe it's fine as it is!
I have been waiting for a statement from NASCAR about this very subject. I'm guessing until the media starts to ask questions then and only then will NASCAR make a statement about this. Personally I dont know why the media has not ran with this topic, as it is the slow time of year and they are looking for anything to report on. Like the breaking news that Jimmie Johnson cut his finger with a kitchen knife!
I just went back and looked at the entry list for the last several races of 2008. The #47 aka#00 car was listed as owned by Rob Kauffman who is partners in MWR and not under JTG. So I bet the farm since MWR is technically a two car team and they could add more cars as they are under the 4 car limit. We will see the #47 listed as being owned by Rob Kauffman and later in the year ownership will transfer to JTG so that 2010 they can run under their own points. This way MWR is not only supporting JTG with cars and support, but I'm sure MWR is some how getting payment for giving them a top 35 owners points.

Now it will be interesting to see who is listed as owners the for Front Row's car and for HOF car at Daytona.
Does it really matter? I mean really?
DEI & MWR both earned the owner's point positions last year, and they should benefit from that anyway they can. Instead, nascar allows the lesser teams (10,21, 78, etc) to benefit for failing. I fully think these teams should be able to sell off/"alliance" and get something to show for all their work. Who thought socialism would show up in NASCAR?
I am not going to argue your point about DEI and MWR earning it..and I agree...however Nasacr has taken the stance that it will not allow point sales or inseason Owner point ransfer (but allow out of season hence why the Busch Hornish one was allowed). The last "sale" was the Waltrip purchase of the BDR team and that caused a huge shite storm.

Given that, we basically have just witnessed a sale for free or Owner Points here with MWR and JTG...yet they didn't allow DEI to sell the Owners pts on the 2 extra cars they had once they merged (had 6 total can only use 4).

And now DEI allegedly has a 4th team..but isnt it just Front Row showing up with a 15 on the side of it taking Owners points?

And Nascar wonders why Northerners think of them as Silly Southern Redneck Bumpkins? (I don't, but talking in broad general stereotype there)
If you are referring to when Michael Waltrip left DEI and joined BDR, Michael Waltrip "purchased" the points from the #77 when he left DEI by joing forces with Doug Bawel (owner of the #77) and forming Waltrip-Jasper Racing Company, LLC. Per Jayski:

Owners trying to buy #77 team for owners points UPDATE 2 Waltrip-Bawel partner up: At least six car owners have inquired about the possibility of buying the #77 [Penske-Jasper] team that won't race this year. That's because that team finished in the top 35 in last year's car owner points. If a new team can transfer the #77's points from last year, that would mean it would be guaranteed a spot in the starting field for the 2006 Daytona 500 and the new season's next four races beyond that. Any such arrangement would have to be submitted to NASCAR for its approval.(ThatsRacin), it was reported on NASCAR.com a few weeks ago, that since the #77 was not being run in 2006, the #4 Morgan-McClure team with driver Scott Wimmer would move up and be guaranteed a spot in each of the first five races, if someone bought the #77, would 'assume' that the #4 team would get knocked out.(1-17-2006)
UPDATE: #55-Michael Waltrip, who enters the season without a spot in the top 35 in owners points after his move to Bill Davis Racing, may be the beneficiary if a deal can be worked out between BDR and Penske Racing South, which won't field its #77 team this year. The deal, which would be subject to NASCAR's approval, would require an agreement to be reached between official #77 owner, Doug Bawel and BDR. Other team supposedly have made inquries about acquiring the rights to #77's 2005 owners points. One techicality could be whether or not the owners points would revert to Penske's #77 team should it return in 2007.(NASCAR Scene Print Version)(1-20-2006)
UPDATE 2: President and CEO of Michael Waltrip Racing, Inc., Michael Waltrip and President of Jasper, Doug Bawel, announced they have formed Waltrip-Jasper Racing Company, LLC. Waltrip-Jasper Racing will field the #55 NAPA Auto Parts Nextel Cup Dodge in 2006,driven by Waltrip. Bawel has been in racing for over 15 years, previously as an owner of Penske-Jasper Racing Company's #77 Kodak Dodge. Bawel will serve on the Board of Directors and will be active in business management and sanctioning body relationships for the new company. "I have been in the sport as a driver for 22 years and the logical progression for me was ownership at the highest level, the Nextel Cup Series," Waltrip said. "This is such a big step, that I wanted to partner with someone who has intimate knowledge about ownership at this level. Doug Bawel and I have been friends for a number of years and I have always respected the way he handled himself in the garage and with NASCAR."
"I learned quickly that Michael is a goal oriented person," Bawel stated. "When we began talking about the possibilities of teaming up, he started dialing the phone and making things happen immediately. He is a talented driver and a proven NASCAR Busch Series car owner, but most importantly as he moves into NASCAR's premier series, he is a man with a vision that likes to take ideas from paper to reality. I am delighted to lend my experience and management support to Waltrip-Jasper Racing."
Waltrip-Jasper Racing has contracted Bill Davis Racing to be the source of cars, engines and personnel. Additionally, Waltrip-Jasper Racing has created their own team of people. The foundation of Waltrip-Jasper Racing is sculpted with experienced people vested in NASCAR. Ty Norris, former EVP of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. will serve as the general manager overseeing the operation. Waltrip's long-time confidant, Bobby Kennedy will serve as the Competition Director and Larry Carter, a veteran crew chief, has also been contracted by Waltrip-Jasper Racing to be a part of the team.(Waltrip-Jasper Racing PR), so this allows Waltrip and the #55 team to use the #77 owners points and guaranteed to make the first five Cup races. Thus knocking the #4 Morgan-McClure team back to 36th in owners points and out of the guaranteed spot.(1-20-2006)
