They aren't inspecting all those engines, they're dyno testing them. Too bad the test results won't be posted, because it would be interesting to see just how much hp some of the top teams can push out of a small block.
Does NASCAR reimburse teams for using their engine, or does this simply fall under an extension of their "inspection" policy?
The only time you will hear about a "leak" of the tests is if Chevy is behind. Last two dynos have come and gone without a peep. Before that Toyota was doing well and of course that info leaked out.
There is also some speculation that NASCAR is building a baseline of information in preparation for switching to fuel injection.
