I was just on Jayski's browsing around and saw how the new Nationwide series is going to debute thier new version of the COT. I must say I think this car looks alot better than the car in the CUP series.. at least it has more characteristics of an actual production car.. alot more than a CUP car does.

There is an article on nascar.com, http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/headlines/bg/07/28/new.race.car.upd...

It says "Ford North America Motorsports Computer-rendering of the Ford Mustang to be used in the Nationwide Series."

I have been saying since the COT was introduced that cars need to look more like production cars. I don't think this goes far enough. Use more parts or templates from the original car. If a manufacture wants to win in Nascar then they must produce a street car that is capable to win in Nascar. The Europeans and the Australians do it. Of course, modified with the safety gizmos.

I also think the new cars should push the envelope on technology. There should be showroom value from the manufactures investment in Nascar. What about fuel injection? What about state of the art engine sensing systems? What about variable timing?
So long as it is significantly different from the Cup car.....
