NASCAR is making a huge change to it's Chase Format. The 16 teams with a Cup win will make The Chase. Then an elimination of four teams every thre races during The Chase, leaving four teams to fight for the Championship.
This means a team could win at a road course or plate race like RGM could make The Chase without running the entire series.

NASCAR is attempting to create a NCAA Basketball feel for the sport with an opportunity for a Cinderella team to make a run. With NCAA football going to a "playoff" style and tons of research this could be a huge attention draw for NASCAR.

This could open the door for many racers that don't want to run the full season long schedule.

Robby could focus on just the two road course and/or plate races and a win would almost guarantee a Chase birth. Would think the cost of running two road course races and testing would be very affordable for RGM.

could, but I've heard that Robby is done with Nascar

I should have add'd,can't Brian leave shit alone, changing shit every year is wearing me out.

He's an idiot, his attempts to draw more casual fans in has driven out more fans.

I'd love to see it, but I think he is now to far behind on a NASCAR program. Has the talent, but no longer the equipment. And as far as I'm concerned, a Chase format, of any type stinks. It should be, like every other sport, the one who scores the most points wins

If you look at the format http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/01/17/4620805/nascar-to-overh...
They finally make it where any team has a shot! This is huge. You can take a team like RGM and spend money on two cars, some testing and two races (road courses), if you win almost a guarantee to make The Chase. I think it's one of the best ideas NASCAR has ever had. Sponsors are coming back. Cars are getting better. NASCAR is finally make correct changes. I'm sure RGM could land a huge sponsor for two races. Heck even Jim Beam or Harrah's would come back for two races! You could afford to get a top quality car from RCR or Hendrick for two races. You put a proposal together for a sponsor that if win and make The Chase they agree to fund it...Win / Win for both. Even if RG doesn't participate this opens the door for every team to have a legit shot at the title, at least a birth into The Chase. The marketing exposure would be huge.

@Zoom,I got don't see your dream happening for anyone, much less for Robby.

The marketing exposure would be huge. Yes for the same ol same ol teams. The ones that the broadcasters and NASCAR market.
If RG did come back to NASCAR, it should be in the Modifieds, where racing is still racing.

Bigzoom, give it up. Robby's done with NASCAR.

I'm sure they will put in the rules somewhere that you must run the entire season to compete for the chase. Between Brian France and Bruton Smith I personally think Nascar is on a downhill slide. It has become to expensive to go see a race that tracks are removing seats to make it look like a sell out and with the nonstop changes to the rules and cars teams can't even afford to compete. I do think making the focus on winning is a step in the right direction but currently I don't think they could fill the chase with 10 different winners. JMO

Here's another explanation of the proposed changes :

"Once the Chase field was set, a round of eliminations similar to the NCAA tournament would take place after the third, sixth and ninth race of the Chase, culminating with the championship determined by a winner-takes-all season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

According to sources briefed on the proposal on Friday, 16 teams would make the Chase, with positions first going to full-time series contenders who won a race through the first 26 races of the season. Should 16 drivers not win races, the remaining slots would be filled by the drivers highest in points.

Once the field is set for the Chase and re-seeded, the four lowest in points among Chase contenders would be eliminated from title contention after the third, sixth and ninth race in the Chase.

The four remaining contenders would enter the season finale reset with the same amount of points. The driver who earned the most points in the season finale would be the series champion."

To be honest, this proposal seems really pathetic to me. A whole season of effort, and then the organizers reset the points to zero for the final race ?

Given how the Henrick wins everything these day, I can understand where NASCAR has become desperate to build some excitement, but it would be nice to see the excitement stem from within the racing itself, rather than coming from a contrived set of rules instead.

Full time contenders. Blows holes in that theory. Weren't we just pissed about watching the Dakar parade at the end? How is Nascar now any different?

NASCAR has lost its way....from Stock car racing...Its a huge money driven circus bleeding sponsors and mostly race fans of $$...to make the La France family (and close circle jerk of friends) multi multi millionairs. Sad too because It WAS a GREAT series with personality and a "guts and glory" feel to it.....gone forever.
