One thing to remember when they talk about Tony Stewart being an owner driver.... -vs- RGM

Just think how Robby would be doing if he had current generation chassis, engines, and support from HMS.

"Stewart thanks HMS employees in person: On Monday [9/21], #14-Tony Stewart made a surprise visit to the Hendrick Motorsports chassis and engine shop in Concord, NC. It was his second visit this year to thank all those employees face to face for their part in helping both #39-Ryan Newman and Stewart's cars make the chase and for all they've done for them this year.(9-24-2009)"

No offense but this has been discussed ad nauseam. Robby in my opinion should look into some sort of deal like that with Penske or Childress, or even Rick Hendrick (who is looking to ad another client) but it won't happen.
none taken. Just wanted to point out that even Tony realizes he is not on an Island... I guess this is my Syrup of ipecac post ;)
For better or worse, Robby builds his own chassis. An alignment with any other team would have little value unless they ran his chassis. I'd guess he'd really like to run his own engine shop too.
I think he wants to make his own tires and refine his own gas... I am aflicted with the same disorder....
What...OCD? hehe
More like M-WOTH.... My Way Or The Highway....
totally agree, my OP was more to debunk all the media romance in Stewart-Haas being a owner driver. Nothing like watching RG take on the big teams and sometimes beating them at their own game... Like Volkswagen!
Hendrick started out the same way Robby did, without the talent behind the wheel. We all curse hendrick for being so successful, but he started out running one car and eventually built out into the mammoth success he is today.

A relationship with Hendrick could help Robby learn how to turn RGM into a powerhouse.
remember robby's last deal aligning with another team?

Funny how things always seem to work out for the best. Try fitting this on your marketing literature or the hood of the car:

Gillett Evernham Robby Gordon Petty Motorsports Yates Racing
Is it just me or is George Gillett a virtual snake oil salesmen? Seriously, how many people has he screwed over to make a buck. Let's take a look: Ray Evernham, Robby Gordon, Elliott Sadler (fired until he threatened to sue) Reed Sorenson (driving for free) , Richard Petty, Bobby Labonte, all the former employees of Petty Enterprises, Mark McCardle, the engine shop at RPM, Kasey Kahne just by having to drive for this team, Elliott, Reed, and A.J. Allmendinger for having to driver 07 motors and 08 chassis while Kahne gets all the new stuff, etc. etc. Why Robby would every have made the decision to associate with that crook, I'll never know. As soon as Kahne leaves, all of these mergers will be for naught because RPM will be DOA.
I highly doubt he's actually profited off all the deals he's made- they got nothing out of Petty Enterprises (The king sure hasn't brought in any new sponsorships). They'll get a factory support deal from Yates, but the guys at ford are not thrilled about it, and will likely only live up to the basic requirments of the contract signed with Yates. Once it expries, ford will probably not renew it.

Gillet is just like Bobby Ginn, only with more money to fund a losing effort. Gillett was never able to attract the sponorship he expected via his other business connections. It's probably nothing more than a big tax write off against the profits of the successful operations of the GIllett empire.
