RGM sits 34th with 1608 points. He is very close to start moving up. Position 33rd and 32nd are well within reach this weekend, and 31st is possible.

To reach 33rd, beat Paul Menard #98 by 10 positions
To reach 32nd, beat Paul Menard #98 by 10 positions & beat Michael Watrip #55 by 12 positions
To reach 31st, Stremme is 91 poinst ahead. Stremme would need a poor finish and RGM a Top 10.

Thanks for doing the math, Zoom.... Helps to know just how far ahead of these guys he needs to finish to gain position. It all looks so close on paper!
Correct Driver Points, As for Owner Points:

To reach 33rd, beat Paul Menard #98 by 10 postions
To reach 32nd, David Stremme #12 has a 91 point lead (about 30 positions)

If Robby leads a lap and they don't that will account for almost 2 positions

33rd is very attainable in 1 race.
I would laugh so hard if the 55 falls out: Couple more races and Stremme will be old news esp after next weekend! I see RG and Paul playing tag moving up a few the rest of the season. Im just glad we got a nice cushion over 36 I think I rember last year the 30-37 spots being tighter.
yeah me might move up, but the copetition this year is a joke! we are 34th out tof really 36. there are only about 8-10 teams that are good. the rest, including us, are all mediocere at best.
Robby Gordon. Dead last in drivers points among those to start all 20 races.

Michael Waltrip skipped a race, supposedly one of RGs best tracks, and he is still ahead of RG in points.

So calling RGM mediocre, is either delusional or a lie. RGM aspires to be mediocre at this point.

RCR is mediocre. Richard Petty Motorsports (thats GEM that everyone here thought sucked so hard last year and used the association as an excuse) is mediocre. RGM is not in their class right now.

Now, I'm not saying that there aren't talented people at RGM, and that they're not working hard. And please feel free to tell me how great it is that RG is on the entry list and is employing people. Still doesn't bring the #7 up to mediocre levels. Sucks to watch a great driver throw away prime years.
ya we know all of that, we know this is a bad year for RGM on the cup side, we all know its been a struggle from day 1 since RGM started in cup. so whats wrong if RG has a chance to move up in points and some of his fans are excited?? sure its not the points move we all want but he has a chance to move in the right direction anyway regardless what postion he is in

RG has big shoulders and will except the blame its his operation
I don't worry about RG racing legacy and what a 30ish place points standing will do to it.
ya life is full of a bunch of shoulda, coulda and woulda's.
Getting a 30th place finish and moving up a spot in the points just because someone else finished 40th, is not moving in the right direction.

Not even close.

Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Now, passing someone in the points, because the #7 is actually getting top 20 finishes on a regular basis, would be moving in the right direction.
Actually Robby IS NOT dead last, don't forget he received a 50 point penalty at Charlotte. He would be ahead of Paul Menard and need to finish only 14 spots ahead of David Stremme to pass him.

Of every driver that's qualified for every race Paul Menard is statistically the worse driver at this point. Paul & David both drive for multi car teams. Paul is driving the same cars as the Roush drivers. Stremme is driving the same cars as Kurt Busch & Sam Hornish. The only driver that is on equal footing as Robby would be David Gilliland and Joe Nemecheck, and only Joe owns his own team. What Robby is doing compared to other teams is beyond incredible. If Robby is able to win a race (like Watkins Glen) it would be an accomplishment many could NEVER reach.
As of today, Robby Gordon is dead last among drivers to start every race this year. Period. It has been that way most of the year.

And if Robby wins Watkins Glen, as impressive as it would be, people still expect RG to have a quality performance there. Even though its obvious many teams/drives have caught up and he is far from a favorite. But I think it's awesome that when you give an example of a race he could win, you've apparently already given up on this weekends race at Pocono. It speaks volumes.
simple fix......don't watch
