In the video clip, Robby says Nascar is 80% this year and probably 50% next year of his racing schedule. Robby adds, "That doesn't mean I don't give 100% when I'm behind the wheel."

Perhaps Rob knows in his heart that times for this sport are going to keep falling, thus in his admitting a possible 50% he not sugar coating anything or coming across in a manner that might make him look like he failed. Last year or was it the beginning of this year he said Tony, Waltrip and himself were the future of the sport as owners. All I know is this sport is so cash driven these days that i'm the only person I know that really gives a crap any more about it.
Robby was going to cut back in Nascar in 2010 until the Bam deal came along. So if he does it again in 2011, just maybe he is going to add races in other forms of motorsports. But dont expect to see RG at Martinsville or Pocono in 2011...lol...
Thank God...I'd prefer a reason to NOT watch those races.
Two years ago, I would have said that running part-time would cause RG to lose every bit of equity he has in his team if he falls out of the top 35. Now, with so few teams, that's almost a moot point. I don't know that 35 teams will be full-time in 2011.

If anyone out there (RCR's fourth team with Paul?) needs owner's points, maybe RG could sell the top 35 spot and try to qualify on speed for the events he wants to run. Barring rain with the smaller fields, I don't think he has to worry about not having the speed for the road courses and plate tracks.

Of course, it sounds like the 19 and 98 are likely to shut down, so there's two more top 35 slots potentially for sale.

The big question now is, if NASCAR is 50 percent, what might the other 50 percent be?
Probably the plan that was in-place this year...before BAM. (Indy, Monster Truck, Score, Rally, Dakar).
I will believe he runs 50% when he runs 50%. If he get's sponsorship I bet his car runs 100% and he runs more than 50%. He might not be in it in Martinsville and Pocono but that doesnt mean the 7 won't be on the track. all depends on the almighty $. You just never know with Robby. This weekend is a great example. That is why I spend way too much time on this site because there is always something from way out of left field!
10-4 on that. Never a dull moment.
I am hoping he goes back to INDY racing. He is always strong at the 500
I'm sure there are several people that expected this to happen. NASCAR is scrambling to mix things up on their part due to low attendance and declining intrest in the "top tier" segment. My belief is that if RGM want's to continue with NASCAR, they need to focus on building a Camping World Truck Series team and a duo Nationwide Series team(s). Forget about Cup Series racing for now.
Have you seen the pay for Truck, Nationwide vs Cup? Looking at a normal track, the winner of a Truck & Nationwide race pockets about $36,000 ... LAST place in Cup pays about $72,000. (It really doesn't make snese to run Nationwide with the costs of the new COT coming out unless they increase the purse.)
43rd in Cup pays 30-50% more than a win in NWS or CWTS. The shop utility bill is the same, the transportation costs are the same, still need to meet payroll, etc. etc.
3.5Million it payed for 34th in points last year..
