Robby Gordon Crandon Qualifying Notes & Quotes

Crandon, Wis. (September 4, 2009) - A crowd of 10,000 fans welcomed back an old friend during qualifying for the 40th running of the World Off-Road Championship. Robby Gordon marked his return to Crandon, Wisconsin; his last appearance was in 1989. This weekend the team unveils the brand new Polaris PRO 2WD, hoping to drive it into victory lane on Sunday. The No. 007 Polaris PRO 2WD qualified in the second group. Gordon posted the fastest qualifying lap of 1:25.962. Greg Adler finished second with a time of 1:26.421, followed closely by Jeff Kincaid at 1:26.422.

Although Gordon posted the fastest qualifying time, he will start mid pack on Sunday. The top six competitors have earned their start position through season point’s standings. Gordon will begin in position seven in a land rush start, giving him an excellent line going into the first turn. “This start is a well known aspect to the Crandon races. Vehicles are lined up at the start line side-by-side, when the track goes green it’s full throttle to see who can come out of turn one in the lead.” said Gordon. “I am excited about Sunday’s race. I left a little speed on the track today so I feel confident about our chances this weekend.”

First 6 spots are determined by season points. This is a land-rush/side-by-side-by-side start anyway...he will be starting in the middle and has a great line to the first turn. If he's the first truck out of turn one it will be all over!
