Robby Gordon Eliseo Salazar officially joined his team for the Dakar: "It is better pilot Carlo de Gavardo"

The Art Gallery of the CCU, the main trading partner Eliseo Salazar, was the venue for the official presentation of the Chilean pilot and member of Robby Gordon Motorsports. "I chose Eliseo because it is an important figure in the Chilean market," admitted the American pilot and owner of the Hummer that will compete in the Dakar.

Both Salazar and Gordon tried to close the dispute with Carlo de Gavardo, who told La Tercera that the U.S. had made "the silver business in Chile." "Effectively this is a business. I have nothing against Carlo, he tested the car very well for three days last year, but struggled with the clutch in the race and left. Shit happens (something like 'bad luck happens'). It is normal after drivers complain about the preparation of the cars, that's racing, "Gordon said. For his part, Salazar said that "we are passionate athletes and issue comments disproportionate. Better forget about it." Similarly, when asked about the skills of each driver, the U.S. said: "Eliseo is a better pilot than Carlo. He has more experience."

Hummers have high expectations for the race that long on Saturday, as expected Salazar getting top 30 and aims Gordon, right, to victory. "We improved the car in many ways. This year, Volkswagen us out ahead five kilometers per hour. Now we can match us. In 2011 I think we can win," he said.

Andy moved on. He felt he reached a career peak with RG. He drove a Honda Ridgeline in the Baja1000.

Check out Steve's blog on the Dakar:

Former bike riders make great Navigators. They have to really be on top of things to navigate and ride a bike in the Dakar.

Thanks a lot to both of you!
Cristal Cero as sponsor of Robby Gordon at IndyCars??? Hmmm... i think that happens only if Robby put a second car for Eliseo at Indy500!!! By the way, wich is the best result of Robby at Indy500? (Eliseo was top5 twice at Indy500: 4th in 1995 and 3th in 2000) ;-)
That would be a awsome combo, maybe we will know in March. It's not even 2011 and the year is starting to look positive already!!!

Only problem I see is Eliseo is a bit old for the 500 he's 57.

Best finish 4th

ok im lost to, did the hummer 2 driver change just happen? did RG plan to use a diff navigator this year or did this just happen to?
Eliseo was not announced until this week, but my understanding is he has been considered for awhile, even in years past. I think this translation raises more questions about Carlo then really exist. Carlo was not a happy camper not making it to Chile last year, but S__T happens. Eliseo has a lot of experience shifting so the Hummer is in safe hands and Chile has a driver they can root for in Great equipment. Andy departed the team before the 1000 and KW is a great alternative.

The only Driver/Navigator locked in to a ride for the 2011 Dakar was Robby! Mid summer Andy decided to stay closer to home.BJ has his own race team. Again all this is old news, and Eliseo and Steve LaRoza is fairly current ( week old ) news.

Just a reminder, both Andy and BJ  have not been part of the DAKAR program from the beginning!
