GORDON TEAMS WITH LOPEZ FOR THE BAJA 1000

Charlotte, N.C. (November 6, 2012) For this year’s iconic Tecate Score Baja 1000, November 14-17, Robby Gordon will be co-driving the No. 18 SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires / MAPEI / RPM Offroad trophy truck taking over for fellow RPM Offroad teammate, Juan Carlos Lopez, past half way of the 1100 mile course which is a much different racing approach from Gordon’s recent Baja appearances.

With 37 of the best desert racers registered in the SCORE Trophy Truck starting lineup, dust will fly across the 1,121.55-mile demanding course, which snakes down the Baja California peninsula from Ensenada to La Paz. As the tandem of Gordon and Lopez tackle the final race in the SCORE Desert Series, the two not only will be in pursuit of a coveted SCORE Baja 1000 victory, but are in a heated duel for the overall SCORE Trophy Truck Championship. The No. 18 sits merely six points behind point’s leader, Rob MacCachren.

As the field takes the green in 30-second increments, the SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires / MAPEI / RPM Offroad trophy truck will pull to the starting line chasing the dust of just 11 trucks. Lopez will race towards the 550-600 mile marker, twisting through small town roads, over summits, speeding through the wide open Laguna Salada dry lakebed, and the famous San Felipe washes en route to the city of Vizcaino.

As the desert night sets in, Gordon will look to get his shot behind the wheel just past the city of Vizcaino, continuing to navigate through the quiet and cold Baja desert the remaining 500 miles, focusing on one thing, making it to the finish line first.

Though we will not see the TT at this year's Baja 1000, The owner will be there ....

I really hope he isn't racing across Laguna Salada. lol

Robby is the man...

Is the 18 going to run Toyos? I see BFG on the quarters

Yes on the Toyos

From: Nick Baumgartner..."all night prerunning w@RobbyGordon.Look out for suicide cacti !"

Must of been what Kellon was talking about...

Heading to San Felipe to watch the race. I hope to get some good pics of the 18 in the lead and hear on the way home that RG is at the finish line with a championship!

If all goes well during the first half of the race, about what time will Robby get behind the wheel?
When you hear the engine screaming at near redline lol . Not really sure bud a lot really depends on the pace Juan sets . Either steady and cautious and let Robby make up time when he can or get a good fast time early and let Robby cruise through the night . Of course I'm betting neither and both go balls to the walls lol

@MTG, if I had to guess and you only what to follow the race when Robby gets in. I'm think'n maybe as early at 9pm/pst,based on my bet with Will, more like 11pm/pst.

Thanks MK I didn't wanna give him a time and have him miss it . I know its kinda hard to nail down an exact time . Can't wait I'm already in Baja overdrive .
