Greene County leaders are calling for the state to provide more funding for DWI courts.

NASCAR driver Robby Gordon and Missouri Supreme Court Chief Justice William Price, Jr. were in town today discussing the importance of DWI courts.

Missouri currently has nine courts and leads the nation in DWI courts per capita.

Supporters say DWI courts help people treat their addiction and turn their lives around.

"Spending time with these guys and gals explaining to them how drinking and driving hurts not only themselves but other people that are on the highways as well and it's a proven fact. I think you guys do a wonderful job and I'm glad I could be here in the state of Missouri to help promote this even more, says Gordon.

After four years, DWI court graduates experience a repeat rate of only 9%.

That compares to 35% for those who did not go through the program.

After today's conference city leaders like Police Chief Lynn Rowe and Commissioner Dave Coonrod received a joyride around the block.

Thanks Robby from a Greene County native. Cool to see him lettin' loose with the Jim Beam Toyota on the same streets I used to drive.
Amazing, he is finally in the town where I live, and I am out of town Go figure, just my damn luck...
Way to go Rob. These are the things that make me proud to support RG.
