RUSTY WALLACE TO COMPETE IN OFF-ROAD TRUCK RACE AT X GAMES

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace will briefly return to competition by driving in Off-Road Truck Racing at the upcoming X Games.

Wallace retired from NASCAR competition after the 2005 season, and has periodically been back in a race car, including a test session in Brad Keselowski's Sprint Cup car at Daytona in 2014.

But the X Games in Austin held June 5-7 will be the 58-year-old Wallace's first time competing in Off-Road Truck Racing. His truck will be sponsored by Jimmy John's.

The Off-Road Truck racing competition will feature identically-prepared 600-horsepower trucks, all leased from Robby Gordon.

The trucks reach speeds up to 120 mph and hit man-made ramps at multiple locations throughout the course. The Baja-style race trucks will negotiate the seven-turn course made of both dirt and asphalt.

GREAT news for the series !! After being at St Pete last weekend ... I wonder how able Rusty will be in the truck.
Age, lack of off-road experience and years away from competition. I'll just finish with hummmmmm ??

Nice name recognition but he's too old to race these trucks.

He will be fine. He was aggressive and fast the moment he turned his first laps during testing.

Freakin' awesome! I've been saying more household names need to get in the series. The racing is awesome but not many people know about it yet...the more recognizable drivers that get involved the bigger the exposure. Still wish Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart or Jimmie Johnson would race

I'd like to see Biffle , he's really into offroad . He owns a couple sand cars and if I remember right has a company building them . As for Rusty I agree with TOG , he just needs some seat time . Right now with all his time outta a race vehicle he just a lil RUSTY right now lol .

I'd like to see Kenny Wallace join in on the action. That dudes a lunatic...he'd definitely be entertaining. And of course, I'd like to see the other energy drink companies end there little boycott and join in on the action.

RustyWallace will be live on SportsCenter at 3:40 PM ET to talk about his Freaky Fast Jimmie Johns ride at Xgames Austin
With the addition of Rusty Wallace this will be a game changer. IMO this will open a lot of eyes. Great news for RG, RGM and Speedenergy .

An x-game-changer ... Dale Jr in a GoDaddy SST ... jeje
