Blitz, Robby is a good driver at the short tracks and can finish in the top 20. At the plate and road courses he is a top 10 finisher. His and the team's big problem was the intermediate tracks aero package. Hopefully, the new nose and the wind tunnel work that was done over the Daytona test week will allow RG and the team to break into the top 20 at those tracks. The Penske engine will give him plenty of power for those tracks.
Robby had a real good day on Sunday. Disappointing 16th place finish, imo due to the fact that he could run up front and had a fast car. The team did terrific and overall a good day, but I wouldn't make future plans or forecasts based on Daytona. We all know that Robby runs well at the plate races. I prefer to wait and see what happens over the next 2 weeks before I get on my soapbox and plead for a full season for Robby or the #7 car.
After watching the Tivo in slow-mo... Tony Stewart darted down in front of Robby. Robby checked up to keep from getting into Tony...but Gilliland was coming with a huge push from Carl Edwards and they ran into the back of Robby causing him to spin... Just racin' (You can cast blame on Tony for frocing his way into moving traffic...or for Carl or his spotter for not checking up and driving DG into Robby)...but there was NOTHING Robby did wrong there.
Robby made an incredible save and came back onto the track...however at the same time Robby was approaching the track several cars were already 4 wide and Newman & Truex got together...this is the wreck that put Dale Jr out. Nothing to do with Robby at all...
