Stage 11 canceled

As the weather forcast for tomorrow announces heavy fog on the whole route of stage 11 and as the timing of the stage cannot be altered due to the crossing of the Andes and the crossing of the border between Chile and Argentina, the organizers of the Dakar have decided to cancel the portion of stage 11 between Copiapo and Fiambala that should have been against the clock. The participants will be getting to the Fiambala bivouac in liaison.

WTF?

People are really pissed off that they're didn't race at the edge of, and into the Andes, in heavy fog?
I wonder how cavalier their attitude towards this would have been if they had run and RG was the one to go over the edge.
then they'd just beotch about the ASO not canceling the stage and how horrible they were for putting drivers like Robby at risk.

Not wanting to have a repeat of the 1980's event when they didn't cancel due to weather and had to send search and rescue out to find about half the field who got lost and then sent the army (Nigerian??) to find the few remaining lost competitors is now a bad thing?
Exactly. And who is going to transport the Nigerian Army to Chile for this one?!?!?
