Admittedly, I didn't pay much attention to the S&P teams before RGM started doing it.  Now, I'm curious what is saved by doing this.

I get the payouts for making the race....and, assume teams save on tires and fuel.  Do they also only bring a portion of the team?

If I remember correctly, another thread mentioned that two haulers were brought to Michigan.  How does RGM make the decision on when to stop?  Engines must come into play?  Why not just run the whole race in the back and hope for attrition that would advance position?

NOT A CRITICISM - just a curiosity on how this works.

Pj finished 37th.

The 36th place finisher was 4 laps down.

PJ could have run 100 more laps and gained nada.
understand - thought they might be able to collect data, try different set ups, etc.
from friday-sunday both cars completed a combined total of 135 laps hopefully they got some info for future reference
