Stephane Peterhansel Talks About Robby Gordon, Dakar 2014

From the German website, Motorsport-magazin.com , Stephane Peterhansel talks briefly about Robby Gordon.

(Translated as best as possible)

Your rival Robby Gordon also restarts at the Dakar. What do you expect from him?

Stéphane Peterhansel : I know that Robby Gordon takes up with a different concept of his car this time . But this I do not have too much information.

In recent years it went on between the two of you from time to time. Does the Dakar require such stories , also with regard to the media coverage ?

Stéphane Peterhansel : I realize that the media loves drivers such as Robby Gordon & the need for good stories . The problem with this, In the Dakar , there are clear rules for years. Not all other drivers adhere to the regulations , only he annoys me. That's not fair for the others. The second winner is the first loser . For me, the only goal is victory.

Is it you at all important that Robby Gordon participates again in the Dakar ?

Stéphane Peterhansel :
I do not honestly care if he is or not.

the in/deflation was legal for the 2013 edition.2012,old news.

Tim, I'm positive I read the air ducting to the alt. was illegal. Not sure how an organization deems an air inflation/deflation system illegal then when nothing can be found to substantiate their claims they decide air ducting cooling an electronic part gave RG an unfair advantage. Now if Robby would just ditch the Alt. and go to a stator style system a number of problems would be resolved.......Or so I'm led to believe by some know it all over on RDC.... :-)

the stator idea was mine. the good news, the new engine location should solve 90% of the alternator cooling/mud issues.

I know Mike, just being a smart ass! I didn't expect you to catch it quite so quickly. Very curious to see how the new configuration preforms I would imagine it will be much better in the tight twisty stuff but how will it do in the rough and high speed sections where the Hummer shone. And if it does everything Robby hopes and more will he reign it in so as not to be regulated out of contention in the future?

my sarcasm detector was at least moving the needle.

Frenchmen are born pompous and Peterhead is clearly one of them. If Peterhead were honest he would admit admires and probably envy's Robby's go it alone American way of living. After all the Frenchman is an arrive and drive kind of guy, just like a lot of drivers in NASCAR

I am not trying to diminish Peterheads accomplishments, they are many and he has received deserved acclaim for them. I just think Peterhead's attitude which more or less says --- Robby is irrelevant to him is not truthful.

Not too keen on the Frenchman myself but he has proved his domination in the Dakar over the last couple of decades. The guy sets the standard for strategy and knowing when to push and when to keep a cool head. RG obviously has the skills and experience to win but just needs to keep a cool head over the first couple of days. You can't win Dakar on the first stage but you can just about set yourself up for not winning getting high-centered on a dune on a parade stage. I sense a little more calmness from RG in the interviews I've seen so far and feel his time is coming. How great for an American to win Dakar!

Peterhumper could take the questions in stride BUT instead takes the negitive route proving he is worried...AND jealous of his talent as a businessman, engineer and Driving skills. This brings the press to him like flies to shit. All press for the SPEED team is good at this point.
