With work and my oldest starting college in a couple weeks, We decided to head to Charlotte since we had the day off. Plan was to head to the Nascar HOF, stop by Robby's shop, and ck out hendricks shop.

Well as alot of you may imagine, it wasn't the best time to stop by RGM. Coming off a bad week and busting thier ass getting ready for the Glenn. (I mean really busting ass. working round the clock). It just wasn't feasable to be able to go into the shop or get any kind of tour. But even though everyone was busy, a couple of the great people of RGM still managed to hook us up a little bit. We were able to purchase a couple T-shirts and hats. talked to us a few minutes and let us peek in the dark windows like a bunch of peeping-toms (hands over our eyes trying to see thru the tinted glass..lol).

We also went to Hendrick shop.. never been here before.. Now this really puts thing into perspective.. the story of David vs Goliath. RGM has a really great shop.. Pulling into Hendricks.. this place has so many buildings.. it's like pulling into a college university there are so many buildings. So we go into their museum/gift shop.. and looking around.. There was one guy in there that was one of those hard-core Hendrick fans....He gave me the dirtiest look I've ever seen. guess he didn't think it was cool to be there wearing my Speed Energy hat...LOL.

I was given the newest Robby Gordon photo card.. I promised not to show anyone the back of it yet though...hehe.. I feel in the know now...lol.

I thought this was a cool picture to.

Hard to tell in the picture is that a new GREEN Speed logo or is it the Yellow. either way boat and truck look BadAss.Thanks for sharing.
I'm assuming your talking about on the dodge truck.. that's yellow with a full pallet of Unleaded in the back. but your right. all those tough machines with the speed logo shining thru looks pretty cool. that's why I told my daughter to get pictures of it.
So, is the logo changing again? New font on the speed text on the boat...
Man that old Ford tractor has to have some miles on it by now. I remember when that was the toy box hauler, and then the Team Gordon hauler in CART, looks good in black though. That boat is gonna be sweet on Lake Norman
Round the clock getting ready for The Glen.
Planning on riding to RGM one weekend during the off season from East TN to take a ton of pictures and spend the weekend. Any suggestions on overnight accomadations in the area?
i wouldn't have the first clue on where to stay.. We just did a day trip from Fayetteville NC. Last time we were there it was for the Coke 600 a few yrs back. (the yr Robby blew a motor at the begining of the race) and stayed in our camper.
Jay I have been back to NC a few times. I suggest staying at the Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Concord NC. The Wingate is a very nice hotel that is reasonable cost and offers free hot breakfast every morning (Saving you a few bucks $) or there is a Waffle house around the corner if the free deal does not sound good. Also there are tons of nice restaurants in the area for dinner. If your into the Harley thing there is a nice Harley Davidson dealer down the road with a restaurant across the parking lot called "Iron Thunder Salon" Sort of like a Hooters for bikers. Lest just say the view was not bad! The Wingate is in the city of Concord and that is sort of puts you centrally located in "NASCAR Land". The hotel is a mile or so from the Charlotte Motor Speedway and only a few miles from Hendrick, Roush, Petty and Gannassi. If you want to go into Downtown Charlotte to go to the Hall of Fame your maybe 30 minutes away. From the Hotel to RGM is only 20 minutes at most, and if you want to go up to Mooresville where many shops are located that is about a 30 minute drive.

But here is a MUST for anyone who is really interested in NASCAR. GO to MWR! By far Micheal Waltrip Racing's shop is the best for any fan wanting to see a shop in action. They have a tour that cost $10 and that gets you your ticket to go upstairs and over look the whole shop, and each dept has viewing windows with a description of what you are looking at. By far the best $10 you will spend. I sort of felt like I was at the zoo watching all the animals at play! If you time it right and show up on a Tuesday mid day you might see Micheal Waltrip, Brad Doughty, the CC and drivers in their weekly meeting as the conference room has big glass windows that you can see into too. When I was there last is when Truex Jr was pissed and fired his crew on the radio. We could see them reviewing parts of that race on a big tv and on another tv they were reviewing pit stops.

Also if you are at all a Dale Sr or RCR fan you should consider taking the 1 hour drive from the Concord area to the RCR museum and shop. DEI is a joke so dont waste your time! Drive by and take a picture if you have to have it. The old RCR shop is now the museum and you get see 100 + race cars that have won special races or have special meaning to Richard. (The Lowes #31 car is on display, but RG's #31 RC cars are not as RG took those with him) There are videos playing in the different sections explaining what you are looking at or what the room once was. You also get to peak into RC's old office where all the sponsor and drivers contracts were sign. In the video Richard mentions signing Robby and the Cingular deal right there.

While on the subject of Charlotte.

Has everyone been to the Penguin Drive-In?
Put on your Robbys Uprising T shirt, then call Rob Harris and tell him you need his guest room
Hey Jack, I sure would like to know what's on the back of that photo card! Any clues? haha
