The Buffalo News gives me the answer about a Dakar/Robby Gordon piece

First off this is the person I spoke with.

I don'y have much time right now so I won't get into it all but here is a brief over view of our little chat, (no response to email so I called her and she answered on the first ring yea that's a F'n hint) As you would expect I got the canned answer I was expecting so the next steps are a couple local small "weekly publications" a letter to the editor written in my own hand writing (so I better get some beam to steady my nerves) Any way here are the highlights of a NO I don'y think so I got.
1) she never read my email in the first place and we agreed that I resend it today
2) Union shop we don'y do things like that
3) Offered for free was we can't do that we'd have to pay so I suggested 3 dollars and was told "no that's not our rate"
4) She "heard of " Dakar but ddddddduuuuuhhhhhhhhh......I expressed in a polite manner that was a fine example of why folks need and would enjoy a Three piece article covering the rally
5) She had no sense of humor and to be honest I wish could meet her in person so I could really see this for real
6) I was nice and she asked questions however I feel she was trying to bait me into the direction she should go for her own benefit
7) I mentioned Robby gordon and his over extended effort to win this thing and some highlights from last year
Overall I tried but I think I just tipped my hand to her is all she claimed "we would get that stuff from the wire and "if there was local connection................other than me I guess.
8) Oh yea number 8 the one thing I did NOT do.................tell her to KISS MY ASS!!!
Now I need to figure a way to get some photos if need be for my next effort.

Youre trying to get them to do a story on Robby and the Dakar?

Do you really think the Buffalo News gives a rats ass about a race thousands of miles away ? Come on Michael GET REAL !

What Michael is trying to do is admirable. I applaud his efforts.

Now go make your bed before mom gets home.

Really come on . Who besides us 2 in WNY even knows what the hell the rally is much less that Robby is racing in it . Don't get me wrong I'm glad your trying but really the Buffalo news barely covers NASCRAP ( even when it's at the Glen ) do you really think they're gonna cover it ? They'de cover Lancaster or Holland speedway before we'll ever see Dakar coverage . Hell were down to 1 sports team that's playing ( and badly at that ) . They can't be bothered with stuff that has no meaning to anyone but us 2 .

Dude, think outside the box.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Thats ................the ............point. My own Cousin has an off road team out of springville and they don't know much about it or the SST. That's where the guys that know about the leaking drums come in.........they "Say Something". My Cuz is a dick ...he stole from my fathers vast pile of car parts when he passed away....that's a long story I'm not even friends on facelessbook with him but he serves as another example of "THE COUNRTIES'" ignorance...not its disinterest mind you but it's ignorance and due mostly from nonpromotion. The guy who sits with his pipe and dog or the ........Listen don't be a F'n .........REMF... Get the F up and out there.

Hell of a try Micheal, it's always worth a shot!.......of Beam or whatever you have on hand!

MJ you are right, from my observation I have seen a bit more talk of Dakar due to Robby picking up more fans or just following him more on the social media on off road. I dont know much on advertising but like the gentleman said about his cousin doing a bit of offroading and he has no clue what SST is less Dakar, so where else is best to start advertising ? My guess would be to survey these guys or groups where they gather to race and ask how they get there info on events. Most likely the offroad magazines that are in possible auto part shops or the Reader magazine that dose all sorts of stories. IMO
