Just saw the "man in Black" clip on Robbygordon.com.... and felt a little sad. Robby is not in black for the reasons Johnny was, he's in black because no one will give him money. Not a fan of this idea.
Huh ? You gotta look beyond the "doom and gloom" and embrace it. Robby stated many months ago that there were going to be open dates on his schedule, so this is expected.
You miss my point. I felt almost insulted by this ploy, only because of the disrespect it does to "Man in Black" and, by extension, the man himself. This song was a peice of work to convey a genuine pain felt by Cash when observing the world - not missing out on the $$$ of carrying a sponsor. To equate the two in any way is in poor taste.
Don't believe it. Johnny Cash didn't wear black because of the reasons stated in this song. He started it to stand out - a marketing ploy. Now, eventually, maybe, he continued the practice as a message, and he wrote a moving song about it, but that's not why he started it.
I have no doubt Johnny Cash truly felt pain seeing injustices around the world. But I also have no doubt that he was a savvy marketer, and knew how to make a buck.
I think this video is a great way to say look could be sponsors this cool vieo could be about you. He is also letting his fans (us) know he is fine with not having a sponsor this week. When could be sponsors see the veiw count for a video saying I'm not sponsored and I think my car looks bad ass how could that be bad? This is a great markiting idea It's good to know Robby has a one of the best markiting staffs in na$car.
Thank dave-0 I didn't know how good of an idea it was until you made me think about it.
Not only does it have nothing to do with Robby Gordon, it's just plain stupid. So many better videos could have been posted than that one. Total weak sauce was thrown up there.
