Thought perhaps I would start a post to give some folks new and old a chance to throw some thoughts around in social manner. Me, I don't do facebook and the like so don't follow strangers that much an old world sort. Anyway........................
I think I joined the planet when it first started then was offline and out of touch for awhile.
Getting plans together for the Glen and giving some thoughts to renting a small moving van and going to Pocono. The only reason for that is that one guy can't make the Glen and wants to hit a race.
We tend to go over the top when we go to races as far as the cooking and "carrying on" goes, the way we look at it is there is no other way, and we still show up saying "we shoulda", always making food for folks who stroll by.
Myself i've been to maybe 18 races, and hit the local track Holland. Build stock car models (secondary market decals make the choices endless) as a hobby. Fish often enough to keep my head out of the grind. Looking forward to the Glen perhaps you can join us for all the wings you can eat!
Race story: Pocono 4 years or so ago. There was a group that was acting a bit wild and hairy in the staging line Saturday night for the dash into the infield. Luck would have it we ended up right next to them along the fence. Sunday morning the three guys of the group are like "man that food smells good". So i'm like hey after we all make our plates you guys can eat what's left, there's plenty. Then two women wake up from the "setup". So I tell the guys sorry man ladies first, so after the two ladies eat one guy eats what was left, fried potatoes eggs bacon and "camp toast". So now we are sitting on the top of the truck and I see some movement in the back of their pickup under the blankets. There's two kids about 11 years old, at this point all I have was some fruit and drinks, without lighting the grill and all. These people ate while the kids had nothing and they knew it and never said anything. Well, for dinner those kids had a nice steak dinner and for some odd reason we only had enough for them. Then the guys are offering to buy a roast from us and fighting (with each other) one of the girls even came under our tent and helped herself to our beer....and left the cooler open to boot. What a group, their kids ate well but it never ends sometimes. You never know and I smiled the whole time. Now if I could only recall who won.
