It sounds like Robby may not be running the full cup schedule, and that may disappoint alot of Robby's hardcore nascar fans. But what he plans on doing during his "off-weeks" has me absolutely excited. Robby says he is looking hard at running the Indy 500!! That alone would be awesome. But add in running the X-games rally race, building and (hopefully) running a monster truck, and running the Baja 500 & 1000. That is unbelievable. I am definitely looking forward to what 2010 will bring us as Robby Gordon fans, and I think it was worth the wait. What do you think??

Jeff,
He could be racing camels for all I care. I'm just happy hes racing, has some sponsorship, and is still sticking it to the man.
Gutter Boat racing is cool too!!! Maybe, that the new thing.
so at what point in the season does Robby and Bam give up on keeping one car in the top 35 with a guarenteed starting spot
He would run a full NASCAR season if he had the sponsors, but he doesn't. Very smart of him to venture into other things while he can, the deal with BAM is huge as it should keep the #7 in the top 35. Hopefully as the season goes, RGM will be able to get other sponsors and run more races and set his team up for the future.

Look for many teams to have struggles this year with sponsorship, heck RCR down 1 car and would not be surprised to see more teams have sponsor problems later in the year.

The reduction in purse money will also hurt some.

I sure hope he runs Indy 500.
but will you watch HIM at Indy, regardless ??
Yes, Yes, Yes......You know you all will, regardless!!
I'm pissed about his 2010 plans. Frankly, I think it's a load of BS. While I think it's nice Robby does all this off-road stuff, I'm a NASCAR fan, and I want to see him racing in NASCAR. Last year was just painful to watch, and this year, I'm wondering if there's even any point to tuning in anymore. NASCAR within itself is becoming so boring, and the economy has changed the landscape of the sport. However, it seems like Robby doesn't know how to deal with that. I know he likes doing his own thing, but I wish he'd drive for an established proven team owner again, like at RCR. Those guys have the resources to help attract sponsors and the resources to compete with the elite ranks of the sport. This off season was full of opportunities he could have taken advantage of, if he was willing to do so.
Just curious, what opportunity could he easily taken advantage of ? The #48 ? the #18 ?
Yeah. Last I checked RCR, Roush, HMS, and Tony's team had all their seats full. RPM was running a driver out of town. The Penske seat that opened is slow, just ask Ryan, and I dunno about you, but I sure as shit don't want to see him in a POS ride. (Figuratively, or driving for Mikey). I love Rob, but not many teams are going to go with a 40 year old who wants to spend off time in the Mexican desert for their best seat. Youth is all they look at these days, the days of a Gant or Biffle coming in and producing seem to be over. They'd never get the equipment. Just ask Musgrave or Blaney. I'd rather see them run like the Wood Brothers this season, make sure that the races that they run in they have speed, and in cutting back the schedule give RG a legitimate shot at Indy or a repeat of the SCORE title. Just sit back and see. If MONSTER ENERGY comes through like I know they can, this could be a blast compared to the last two seasons... GAS ON, MONSTER 7!
gorobby7, you have your points if you are a NASCAR fan, But Robby is not a NASCAR driver. He is a racer. The world does not revolve around NASCAR.
I'll let you know when I hear about actual honest plans. Press releases about secured rides, and scheduled races.
first up- Daytona. Then Cali, then Vegas. Book it.
