Michael McDowell was first to fold on lap 34 at the Start & Park Poker Tournement at Loudon. Since the #46 Cash America Dodge, owned by Whitney Motorsports, was the first non-accident car to park, NASCAR tore it down. During the inspection officials found the engine valves to be underweight.
Whitney Motorsports was penalized $50,000, driver Michael McDowell was penalized 50 driver points and owner Dusty Whitney was penalized 50 owner points. Crew chief Jeremy LaFaver has also been suspended from NASCAR competition for six weeks.
I wonder if they had to give back the $69K they took home for finishing 43rd?

Sealed engines are stupid, Na$crap doesn't issue engines, and it falls exactly within the intent of the rules.
Lots of people thought Robby should ditch TRIAD and run Arringtons.Looks like Arrington can't read a rule book ( didn't Carl Long lease from Arrington?) Sealed engines-don't get me started, I'll make the subject my college thesis.

No, Long didn't use Arrington. TRIAD has much to lose and nothing to gain by using non approved parts and fudging the rules. They have done well at the lower levels but are only used by RGM and Nemachek in CUP.
The NNS and the CWTS engines are all sealed and have been since 2009.

Just becouse it's sealed doesn't mean it's legal! It's the responsibility of the the engine builder/supplier to conform to the rules.
In Na$crap's resent dyno testing ,the Arrington Dodge was well below standard on horsepower and now found to be illegal.
Bet the 46 team wish they ran the ECR engines at Loudon.

Carl's engine came from Ernie Elliott.
As an example, my old late model engine had 7 seasons of use before the block failed,it was only worn .0015. Carl's .010, used up is a better phrase.

46 is a unlucky number. The same number that Carl Long had when he got hosed for $200K for having an uncompetitive engine, 0.17 cubic inches oversize, that blew up on the 3rd lap of the Sprint Showdown - a non-points race. NASCAR allows a maximum 358.09 cu. in. Long's engine was actually only 0.01 inches over per cylinder.
Cruel irony: Richard Petty won a race at Charlotte in '83 with a 382 cubic inch engine, 24 inches oversize. NASCAR fined Petty $35K but let him keep the win.

That was a Arrington Engine, it was a refurbishment of a Petty or Evernham Engine, .01 was simply the motor being worn out and gained some tolerance.
Arrington makes great engines for the CTS, in fact they are in alot of 18 trucks. They just havent had the same success in Cup.
