From an interview with Earnhardt "We had a pit stop where I was told the right-front tire was only an inch over the line," Earnhardt said. "I was held a lap for that and I don't feel like that was a fair trade. Maybe it's time to re-evaluate that rule."
this coming from the "GOD" of nascar will they change this rule to a whole tire over the line?
should he have gotten the rough driving penalty for wrecking vickers like leffler did in the nationwide race?
i used to think JR was a clean driver and always came clean when he made a mistake but after this incident i feel he has changed i think someone talked to him and said the good old boy thing is not going to win you a championship you need to get out there and get aggressive even if it hurts other drivers.IMHO

I don't think they will change the rule, I sure hope not. I don't care if JR was an inch or a mile over the line, the rule is the rule, right? If they change the rule just for JR I will seriously be amazed.
Also, NASCAR should have penalized JR for rough driving it was clearly intentional. At least I thought so. I am tired of NASCAR making exceptions for a mediocre driver that is just riding on Daddy's coat tails.
He will never come close to a championship. IMO
I 100% agree with you about J.R.' s so called driving. Yesterday was such b.s. & JR should have been penalized no doubt about it! Lets put the shoe on the other foot. If that was Robby who drove like that, and cause that big wreck, nascar would have held him for 5 lap penalty, & what ever else they could dig out of the fricken rule book. So not fair for Rob, late
Somebody please, call....

I don't think Nascar's gonna change the rule. It's there to keep guys out of harms way. Jr. should be more concious of where he's putting his car. Maybe his spotter needs to do a better job counting him into his pit. He clearly stated he could not differentiate his sign from evrybody elses. Onto the driving...
anybody on this site know what the diff is between the track,& apron where this incident took place with Jr. yesterday? You could clearly see in the replay where the 88 was transitioning back above the yellow, there was a diff in banking. Can anybody here tell us how a car's steering reacts when it's going approx 190 transitioning between flat pavement,& banking?
I mean, I'm just sayin. Seems to be plenty of experts here...
look at the picture in the article below no difference in banking.
Good pics, again I'm just sayin. When I saw the in car yesaterday (which I'm sure will be played again tonight on speed) it looked to me as though he came up on banking as he was comin back above the line. Also looks like he just barely got some of Vickers back bumper. IMO, whether it was intentional, or not will prolly never be known. Truthfully, if Vickers would've been hooked,& gone into the infield, would anybody care? Prolly not
plate racin and blocking at its best.......
you have a point there.
Good article from someone who is not a member of the Junior Nation. Thanks, SC!
according to this article the JR is coming unraveled and starting to show cracks.
i think that if he does not win a race this year and does not make the chase there is a good chance he could be let go by Hendricks.
amen
Im not mad at Junior (well not exactly happy either, but what driver doesnt go over the line time to time; care to ask Ambrose fans what they think of RG? :) ) I am mad at Nascar. Time after time, they have said they do not rule on intent, rather the action itself.

It does not matter if Junior intended to wreck Vickers or not. The fact is he did, and it was clearly aggressive driving. That aggressive driving has resulted in 1-5 lap penalties in the past, but now Nascar looks the other way? Nascar slowly creep closer and closer to the WWF status many feel the sport has been going towards for years. Anyone care to talk about Jeff Gordons traction control at Atlanta in the early 2000s?

Well done Nascar, well done...
