As a 16yo I sold parts to 'lil Larry Ward's' step dad for Larry's Italjet 50 (they where a POS) Larry would come and set on the Yamaha YZ 80's that we had for Tony's (shop owner) grandkids.Larry rode Yamaha's alot in his career.
The first race was held on February 18, 1978, and Jimmy Ellis won on a Honda; it was his first and only win on a Honda

It appears that the TwoTwo Motorsports Honda team will indeed be hitting the road once again this summer after signing former World Champion Ben Townley to the team. Townley will replace the injured team owner and racer Chad Reed for the remainder of the 2012 season. The New Zealander will contest the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, beginning with the opening round at the Hangtown National in Sacramento, California, on May 19.
