STAGE 3 TRACKING

STAGE 3:  San Miguel de Tucuman>San Salvador de Jujuy

Connection 231km | Special Stage 500km | Total 731km

COURSE OVERVIEW

To reach Jujuy, the special stage has been split into two parts, separated by a neutralised section. On the first part, the bikers will again be racing on their own track, plunging into the desert canyons where the red of the sand and cliffs is the dominant colour. There is a striking contrast with the second timed portion: the race moves to earthen tracks and the vehicles will disappear into thick green forest. The trucks have been excused from this challenge, deemed too dangerous for the windscreens which are at the same level as tree branches.

For what it's worth, the high point 3378 meters between WP 9 & 10 is 1182' above sea level...

Roughly the same height as Lone Mountain at the Big Sky Montana Ski Area. The air is mighty thin up there...

What is the highest spot on this rally? racing ? commuting?

#312 Lavieille, made up some 15min on him in the neutralization section. Don't know how that really works, but...
@George Barnes - Some of the cars and bikes were much faster on the pavement and picked up a lot of time and a few places in the standings. Compare the times at WP8 and WP9. I was thinking the pavement might be good for RG, but I guess not.
plus 311 in the bmw now 8th
