When they were secretly building the bomb at Hanford, one of the things that happened, was the emissions made it rain. The Govt GAVE land away, not knowing (?) about the effects of the radiation in the air and water. No they didn't move away, they lived on the land between George and Vantage until my Grandfather died, and the winery/amphitheater bought the land from my Grandmother. I lived there until I was 10, then moved to the Hermiston OR area where not only were we in the Hanford target area, but also next to the Umatilla Army Depot, where all the nerve gas was stored (and leaking). Down Winder's Syndrome is a huge deal. Look it up. Move? Well, I won't live in that area for anything, but again, I've been exposed to all that my entire life. You would have to make that decision. You couldn't pay me to live there or anywhere in that region. It's in the ground and water to this day. I don't know how long you've been there, but definitely, do some research.
Your're in Royal City? I grew up near George. My Grandparents owned the land that the winery and amphitheater are now on. They settled and farmed there in the 40's, when the govt. was giving away all that land, to experiment with "making rain" at Hanford. My grandmother sold it to the guy who developed it in the 80's for $90,000. I remember her saying "He can't grow grapes here! He's crazy". lol...
