"Baker Curb to use Ernie Elliott Motors: Baker Curb racing announced that they have reached an agreement with legendary engine builder Ernie Elliott to provide the engines for the #27 Kleenex Racing Ford Fusion in the Nationwide Series in 2009. The new engine program is one of many exciting things in store for the 2009 season at Baker Curb Racing. The team will be celebrating Kimberly-Clark’s 15th season in NASCAR, the longest standing, continuous primary sponsorship in the Nationwide Series. Piloting the car will be Nationwide Series veteran Jason Keller."
This is the first ford team, to my knowledge to turn down the Roush-Yates package for another builder. I know a lot of people have talked about how inadequate those motors were for Robby. Arguably, 2007 was the slowest Robby's cars have ever been, following 2006 when his cars seemed to be the best they had ever been. Maybe some of these Ford teams in Cup, like Wood Brothers, should look into the Elliott engines as well since Roush seems to be "jipping" everyone not under his umbrella.
