I visit Speedtv.com a couple times a day to get racing news, and I haven't seen one single mention of Robby Gordon's Dakar effort on the site, and I can't help but wonder why. There's a story up about the Spanish leader in the VW crashing, but never a single mention of Robby/Team USA in an American vehicle, running in third to the mega-dollar factory teams. I'd think this would be a positive story in a rather negative time for Americans, yet Speed ignores Robby's effort.

Please God, no more Pass Time or Pinks !!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I was really disappointed that they didn't show full DTM races this year, just a full season clip show. I'm totally guessing, but they may be cutting back the budget or something because they're showing full Porsche Cup races instead. Those are probably cheaper. I imagine they'd love to have Indy Car but didn't have the budget after all the NASCAR stuff. I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE, those ghetto lifestyle shows, but they're cheap as hell to produce and probably get a different group of people watching and different advertisers.
The good old days! "Auto"racing Monday's,Two wheel'd Tuesdays,Wing's and water Wendsday,Industry news (stuff) Thursday's,Q day Friday's,Race'n Saturday and Sunday's. Speed TV had it cover'd, than Brian France took over from Bill Jr.The easiest way to grow your interest is to eliminate other interest's.My memory says France(NA$CRAP) helped in the buy out of Speed Channel to FOX, ect, ect. Now Speed TV- mostly crap( sorry Nena). Yes I think Brian France is the Devil and the reason auto racing in general has not grown.Strictly my opinion.Mike Kenyon
Can Tony George be the co-devil? He's done his share of damage to American racing.
Their in kahoots!
He's done more than his fair share....
Speedvision = Good. Speed = Bad.
Maybe they are still pissed they lost the Dakar coverage to Versus?
lost it? I doubt they even tried to get it. Lord France wouldn't allow it, much like IndyCar and A1GP. "

Thou shalt glorify no series I don't own!" Lord B. France
Speed TV is NASCar under a differerent banner. Bought 'em guy, remember? Speedvision ain't comin' back, EVER!! Money's changed hands; it's over. What you lived for, and look forward to, it's gone. Thanks Fox, great job.

The only thing that Speed does well any more is Sebring and LeMans, oh, and the dismally boring Daytona 24 hrs, with those horridly ugly DP's. Yikes!
As much as it is fun to look for conspiracy theories against Robby (some are true)... the truth is that Dakar is spending PR time and money on populations that traditionally follow the race (this isn't the US population). RGM is a small team and they probably don't have robust PR (which is why we see him less and less). When money is tight it is important to spend on finding and minding sponsors and getting competitive. Speaking of tight funds...be nice to speed tv. They are probably taking a beating from receding advertising cash. Two years ago companies would throw a bunch of money on any programming to support a bloated branding strategy connected to a sponsor program. Now you need to craft content that pulls eyes to get a piece of the cash. You think Nascar is hurting for sponsors, watch how this will change things for the other events that don't have the fan base....this will naturally change the media buys on speed.
Sorry, but SpeedTV and Speedtv.com are put forth as the race fans' CNN, a one-stop place to get info on all racing. This whole discussion was started because there are drivers and entire series' that are ignored by Speed, zero coverage, and we're exploring why. Don't feel sorry for Speed, they've sold out to Nascar and are paying with alot of unhappy viewers. It doesn't mean we don't watch for the scraps we get, we do, but as soon as there's a better alternative, and there will be, there won't be Speed anymore, and with their record of not answering emails or telling the customers what's going on, like why they scheduled full A1GP coverage, then yanked it at the last second without explanation, the only place this stuff gets hashed out is on various forums.
