BJ's kind words.

With two wins and a second in Laughlin, B.J. Baldwin leading 22 SCO...~dirtnewz
... “The biggest difference for me over the last three years is having the new Chevy Silverado which is extremely more dependable and reliable than our old SCORE Trophy-Truck,” said B.J. Baldwin, whose father Bobby Baldwin drives the No. 96 Baldwin Motorsports Chevy Silverado. “Additionally, with the help of Larry Ragland in the desert and Robby Gordon in desert rally racing, I have learned how to drive faster and smarter and intelligence behind the wheel can make you lethal. My ‘further’ education with Larry and Robby has increased my skill sets incredibly.”

If I recall correctly, Robby was really close to breaking the 'leap' record last year...

This year's competitors will be attempting to break the event record in the SCORE Laughlin Leap of 160' 6" set in 2004 by Mark Post in the No. 3 Riviera Racing Ford F-150.

I talk to a crew member on sunday that was still at the dakar, they get back on wenday and leave thursday for laughlin, the will have 3 days after laughlin to get truck ready for parker, know one ate the dakcar knew anything about the bud shootout because they are racing parker!
Neal, nobody at Dakar knew anything about the shootout, because that effort is based out of the Nascar shop in North Carolina. The guys you talked to are from the off-road shop in Cali. Thanks for the heads up on Laughlin though. It'll be intersting to see how Robby fairs in the leap. I think he had 140'+ last year. If I remember correctly that Riviera truck is an old RG ride. BJ will kick ass @ Laughlin. I know they had Rampage all apart in prep around Christmas, so by now it should be ready to beast out.
Look at the Dakar podium, there's atleast two guys from the Nascar side in there, Randy Rodriguez- I think it is ( hauler driver, catch can) and I think Brandon something-guy's been on RG's Nascar team for a while ( tried Spotting or is the spotter after Fat whoever did it) think they'd have a little word of the shootout
Mcmillen's truck, Post's truck, Normans 1000 winning truck (Nick Baldwins old truck), anyone know of any other RGmotorsport truck still competing?
Roger Normans truck is not an RG truck. When Nick and Mark were teammates Nick had a new truck built that was a close copy to Mark's. Mark's truck has had some updates over the years, but it is still very close to the original design when he got it from RG.

The trucks that are RG built that are still out there are; RG's, McMillins (Very much changed over once they bought it from Chet Huffman) Mark Post's and Marty Coyne. Also I'm not sure who has it now but the old La Victoria salsa TT is still out there. It has been very much updated and changed, so I dont know how much RG influence is still seen on that TT. The last person I knew who had it and who made a ton of changes was Kory Scheeler, I think!
Also BJ Baldwin just signed a 3 year tire deal with General Tire. His deal covers his desert and short course programs. It sounds like his deal is very similar to RG's deal with Toyo tires.

So with this said I would guess BJ will be out of the picture for a possible Dakar deal with RG in 2010 and beyond.
