What gave me heartburn...

As I was eating lunch some friends of mine were talking about the most hated driver in Nascar and the name Mikey popped into the conservation and me being a Robby fan had to put my two cents in of why Mikey is such a bad guy.........I was just wondering if anyone else had other reasons for disliking poor Little Mikey here are my reason...
1. By himself took down one of the best racing organizations in Nascar.(he cried and said that if he had Jr.'s crew he could win a championship...that itself cost Jr. the best chance he would ever have with DEI to win it all, that year he eury jr. had the old style car smoking and mikey killed the moe....
2. Has way to much influence in Nascar and uses his tv face time to promote his own private agenda...by far the worst possible choice to give a drivers opinion on anything...
3. Flat out screwed RG with Toyota when Toyota got in to Nascar I don't know how but I know the wreck at Loudon had something to do with it and so the POS was born........
4. The dude has one hottest wives in Nascar and walks around like he is the Queen of hearts (Just flat out gay)

He cheated on that hot wife, which is why she left him. Yea, he did screw RG out of Toyota, but Bill Davis had a hand. Bill Davis even went as far as to paint up a Camry in Beam colors to try and grab Beam From RG before contracts were signed. (There was a story out about a parts chaser that saw a "Robby Gordon" Camry at BDR, it was actually a Bill Davis car painted up to show Beam execs)

I think saying he took down DEI is overboard. Blame Theresa for that one. Waltrip had nothing to do with Junior leaving. It also was not Waltrips choice to shuffle teams. I dislike the guy too, but lets not blow certain issues out of proportion.

I seem to recall secret pictures of the #7 in Red Bull livery as a Toyota.

Those existed as well, actually there are pictures of Robbys shop on his site, and on the paint booth you can see a mockup of a #7 Redbull car.

Red Bull was supposed to be a big sponsor in 2005, but they bought the Jaguar Racing team and the budget went away. When Red Bull revisited the Nascar idea, they wanted to pair with Toyota and buy half of RGM and have the #7 as the number one team. Obviously Robby did not go that route in 2006/2007. This was the timeline where the picture you speak of came from most likely.

That would've been a great idea, I think. Robby could still be his own man because the other owner is in Austria running the red Bull business and Robby has Toyota support. Is it too late to merge?

I bet Monster would love that...especially after all the $$ they've ponied up for Dakar, TT, etc.

Speaking of which, here's a new marketing campaign: A Special Robby Gordon flavor of Monster Energy drink made to taste great with some JB. This Vodka-redbull thing monopoly is ripe to destroy!

I'm missing something here... how did Mikey screw RG out of Toyota?

Oh, and Bill Davis is a coward if that story is true. I bet RG & Jim Bean feel real good about that every time they think of the OTC360 nightmare. Davis ever win that suit?

Im not sure. That kind of thing happens all the time though with sponsors. Its just business. RCR has made more sponsor "steals" recently than anyone in the business. Just off the top of my head:

Lowes from Brett Bodine Racing (Funny Hendrick then woo-ed them away from RCR)
Cingular from Ganassi
General Mills from Petty

RG and and Mikey were both trying to be one of the primary Toyota teams, and Mikey won out. You would have to ask RG the specifics, but everything I heard points to some questionable tactics by Waltrip.

Back to Davis, he was trying to get them at the same time Robby was, not lure them away from him. Funny story, OTC360 originally signed with the #4 Morgan-McClure car as the sponsor that year with Scott Wimmer (wait, it might have been Johnny Sauter, eh that was too many Red Bull and vodkas ago) as tyhe driver. MMC also sued OTC360 over that breech of contract.

We all dislike ol' mikey, but those NAPA commercials are pretty funny and after all these years, I bet it's hard to try someone else in that role.

But Ragan & UPS might open that door......

LOL. I think Buffy got some payback no doubt she got a chunk of change, but I think I read that she was dating the construction manager of the Raceworld facility Mikey built.
