Does anybody know how they go about selecting the drivers for these tests? Like does Goodyear draw names from the respective manufacturers out of hats and then invite the drivers? Or do the manufacturers rotate which team they have go and then is it up to the team to pick which driver they want to have a little more track time?

Most importantly, how does Robby get in on some of that free practice action?

Its a rotation, mostly with the larger teams.

Robby will most likely never do a tire test, but stranger things have happened.
I'm not sure if anyone can explain how teams are picked for the tire tests. I've seen several different explanations in the media, but none seem to fully explain the process.

BTW... Robby was invited to a tire test at Atlanta in August of 2007. But if I recall, the test was rained out or postponed for some reason and he didn't actually get to test...
As a former employee of Goodyears racing division, Im going to guess I can explain...
