# Robby penalized for rear axle: NASCAR has issued penalties to the #7 team that competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as a result of rules violations committed at Lowe’s Motor Speedway earlier this week. The #7 car, driven and owned by Robby Gordon, was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4I (any determination by NASCAR Officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-10.6H (rear axle housing exceeded the maximum specified toe of plus or minus one degree) of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rule Book. The violation was found during post-race inspection on May 25. As a result, Gordon has been penalized with the loss of 50 championship owner and 50 championship driver points. Crew chief Kirk Almquist has been fined $50,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.(NASCAR PR)(5-27-2009)

good ole na$car
Nascrap, why do I even bother. Bring on Baja and Rally raid. C'mon Robby, just sign with a WRC team. Now that is a racing series that can take a boost with an American racer joining it.
i would love to see him in a WRC, team up with Ken Brock
but in the end he supports familys and give americans jobs. I still think the money is a big part of why he runs Nascar. I know he wants a win as so do may fans but if you look at the numbers and what he does he can bring in a good income with Nascrap on his back

have you ever played EA Games NASCAR 2008......can you see the money selling hats/shirts brings in...>HEHE...or yeah, the races pay too
I've said it here before, RG missed his calling and should have been a career WRC driver....

Didn't Loeb just get knighted by the Frenchies?
I'm waiting for him to join the Rolex Grand-Am series so he can race against Pruett again. That would be sweet!
OK sorry I didn't want to read all 90 responses but how would extra toe in the rear housing help in performance?? I know he was out of the rule book but was he trying to gain an advantage or was it just a Fu** up???
What should be taken from this weekend is that we finally got the right crew chief

#1 he made a great strategy call and gained positions
#2 Robby respects him and the radio convos are collaborative
#4 setups are good...they are starting to look competitive on all track types (now just need luck)
#5 Chemistry with the team is great (remember the pit management at richmond)
#3 If you aint cheating in NASCAR, you aint trying hard enough. Innovation wins races.
I just want to know what RG did that was "detrimental to stock car racing". I bet France doesn't even know what that means.
If you notice every single penalty that is handed out has that.....detrimental to stock car racing bull shi*. Whatever. Since day one people have been testing the limits. But I still want to know, how would the problem with Robby's car have hepled him?? Anyone know??
Jeremy (Fatback McLosaw) explains it well in his blog post Monster Myrtle. According to NASCAR, Robby went too far with the technique most cars use.
7 Gordon 7, read the Monster Myrtle blog by Fatback McLosaw linked to on the the main page. It is very informative on the benefit of increasing the rear end toe.
no one watching....now that is detrimental to stock car racing.
