Persistent Rain Postpones Fifth Annual Prelude to the Dream

Dirt Late Model Race Rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Eldora Speedway

ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 3, 2009) – Persistent rain has forced officials at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, to postpone the fifth annual Prelude to the Dream. The all-star dirt late model race has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9. A decision regarding the broadcast of the event will be made at a later date.

The wet weather made it impossible to run the event that was slated to benefit four military-themed charities – Wounded Warrior Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront and Fisher House.

“We worked really hard to make sure everything was right for the drivers, fans and viewers at home on HBO Pay-Per-View, but the weather was the one element we couldn’t control,” said Tony Stewart, two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and owner of Eldora Speedway.

Those who have already purchased the Prelude to the Dream on HBO Pay-Per-View, which was slated to begin today at 7 p.m. EDT, will be refunded.

Those who purchased a ticket to the event can apply the value of their Prelude to the Dream ticket toward any remaining event on the 2009 Eldora Speedway schedule. To view the schedule, please visit www.EldoraSpeedway.com or call the track office (937) 338-3815.

well, this sucks.
This really sucks. I had a bunch of friends coming over and it was going to get rowdy.
This screws up a fun night of drinking...now I feel like an alcoholic degenerate already 3 Red Bulls and Grey Goose in pregaming (while playing Rock Band). I actually took off work today/tomorrow for this...lol
I have to be one of the few that this works out OK for... I have to work tonight, so I wasn't going to see the race! Who knows, I may have the evening of September 9 off! (Although I was deployed to Louisiana for Hurricane Gustov last September 9!)
This is pretty much a bummer, and I'll bet all the drivers are bummed as well!
Kind of works out for me. Had a school thing for my daugther that I have to go to tonight which was really bumming me out. So now I can be a good Mom and go and not think about what I'm missing. Will look for it in September. His car looks awesome!
What happens to the Prelude car? does it just sit at Robby's shop or does Bloomquist use it?...... or?
Isn't it one of Chris Madden's cars? He will just reskin it and run it I suppose. Then he will probably get another one ready just before September 9.

This sucked! I drove 12 hrs from Arkansas to Ohio for the Prelude, just to get rained out. Theres no way I can make it back up there in Sept. It quit raining about 30 mins after they called it.
Wasn't RG supposed to run the Prelude in 2007 when it was rained out and couldn't do the make up date? Hopefully he can do it this time.....
If he has a prior obligation (like an autograph session or something), I could see him rescheduling that now that he has had a taste of running the Prelude. I think he REALLY wants to win that thing this year.
