NASCAR submits affidavits by Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Robby Gordon in support of drug testing policy

In addition to Mayfield's Thursday filings, NASCAR filed paperwork which included affidavits signed by drivers Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Robby Gordon in support of NASCAR's drug testing policy. Those affidavits were signed on May 29 and were entered into court documents yesterday.

One of the points NASCAR always makes is that its drug testing policy is supported by its drivers and it's not just a talking point. Most of the drivers are very much in favor of keeping impaired drivers off the track. These affidavits seek to put that on the record.

All three documents were mostly identical and ended with the following two points:

5. I make my livelihood by racing in NASCAR events. Racing is my life and career. However I am not willing to put my life at risk driving a racecar on a NASCAR track with drivers testing positive for drugs that diminish their capacity to drive a racecar. I support NASCAR's Substance Abuse Policy and depend on NASCAR to prohibit drivers who don't abide by the policy from racing.

6. If drivers are on the track in violation of NASCAR's Substance Abuse Policy, it presents serious questions as to whether or not it makes sense for me to put my life at risk

The hardest bars in the country (along with Cali)! He knows his stuff :)
Does anyone get the feeling that Jeremy Mayfield is becoming more and more like Roger Clemons? I think that Jeremy "mis-remembers" what he did. Either that or NASCAR REALLY has it out for the guy.

Look, I think Jeremy is great. Heck, he and Robby have one thing in common: they each took out a top driver to win a race. Mayfield did it to Dale Sr. at Pocono and Robby did it to Jeff Gordon at NH. However, his public testamony is getting worse and worse. I want to believe him, but I'm not so sure anymore.
Robby didnt take out Jeff..Jeff took himself out being a little pu@#$! under yellow by ramming his nose into Robbys abck bumper. All Robby did was pull the same bump and run move Jeff pulled the followign Spring at Bristol to deny Rusty Wallace a win with 4 laps to go then Jeff proclaimed "he left the door open" and "thats racing"

Jeff's a whiny Va J J
I like saying "Robby took Jeff out to win" Cause nobody else would actually do it!
Mayfield did it, he's a loser, get over it. He should just drop it.
"he does not look or act like amethhead" So you can look at someone and tell if they are using drugs? In that case, why waste time and money with drug testing?
Jittery, stuttering, missing teeth, unhealthily thin, unable to maintain eye contact...

NONE of which Mayfield displays.

It's ridiculous because they tested EVERYONE involved with Cup prior to Daytona and EVERYONE was clean, sans one of Mayfield's crew members who he summarily fired. So you're telling me that he picked up a meth habit during the season? I call BS on NASCAR. They're just trying to cover their asses because they have shoddy drug-testing from a second-rate lab and don't want to be a laughingstock as a result. They can afford to bleed Mayfield dry with legal fees and that's their only aim.
What pisses me off is that he is not only out of a car (the car was struggling) but many are. However, he almost has to prove his innocence now just to save his name. I don't think thats fair, it doesn't seem like NASCAR is willing to let him defend himself. It's like what Robby says regarding penaltys, as a small organization sometimes your name and reputation can make or break you when you depend on sponsors and in Jeremys' case a ride in the future. I just hope that NASCAR sheds more light on this before they ruin his career just to safe face.
Not necessarily. It takes hard core use to exhibit these symptoms. If he was just giving himself a pre-race boost, you wouldn't likely know it. Doesn't make it a habit but still impairs his motor skills. Don't all drivers provide a list of prescription meds they're taking? If it's ADHD med like he claims, they would have known. Mayfield has to claim innocence, whether or not it's true. He has too much at stake to just roll over and admit guilt, as do his sponsors.
I have heard mayfield is WT
"Way Tired"?
"Without Talent"?
"Wrongfully Treated"?
"Wishfully Thinking"?

Give a non-ADHD, Non-Meth-head dude a hand. WTF is WT?
I'm glad I'm not the only clueless one here. LOL!
